Barcelona played with 8 starting midfielders, Cesc as a 9, Messi as a 10, Mascherano, playing a CB in a 3 man defense, constantly ran up the wings creating width, and not one natural CB played in the game, even though there was a 3 man defense (traditionally all CBs). The players frequently switched positions with one another in a very fluid display. And they won in style, putting 5 past the 4th best team in La Liga, not relegation fodder. Before the match Iniesta sent Pep's brother a text message: "tonight, we don't play like the dream team, we are the dream team".

Total football has been used in most of the successful teams so it nevr left per se, but that was a demonstartion of totality in its purest form ive ever seen tbh. Their movement at times was stupendous to watch. God bless Guardiola.

Dont think they could pull it off vs Madrid, or the top sides in Europe. If they try that against man utd, young and nani, will kill them on the wings, and will create space for rooney.
