Re: Is Lionel Messi Over Glorified?
messi has been arguably the best football player in the world the last few years and he is still young.
What's the point in arguing if some people 'overrate' him or not?
There have been threads on here claimingthat Zidane was overrated. Again, what's the point? It's opinions, some people might think Zidane is the GOAT, some people think Messi is the GOAT and way more people would tell you Pele or Maradonna are the GOAT.
I personally think Puskas or Mueller were better than Maradonna. So what, it's my personal subjective opinion and i know a lot of people will disagree...

Ok, see it this way TMO.
You have 9 pages of people disagreeing with you. 9 pages. Not just Barcelona fans. Man United fans, Liverpool fans, Arsenal fans, and go knows which others. Maybe even some RM fans thrown in, I haven't done a demographic.
Either you see it the way it is, or delude yourself.
I'm being extremely straightforward. Read the thread from a neutral POV.

last 4 pages were made up of people accusing me of saying and meaning things that i didnt mean.
and i already explained it, i dont care if you agree or disagree i care that you atleast understand, and many dont and thats why for the most part the last4 pages has been filled with false accusations towards what i mean with the thread.
is messi over glorified by some? yes and i explained why. too many pages of confusion ruined the thread a little bit.

Re: Is Lionel Messi Over Glorified?
Quite frankly, and I do not mean this in an accusatory sense, I do not understand.
The same cycle has been repeated throughout the thread.
Barca's good, so Messi looks good, Barca's good, so Messi looks good, and so on.
Dani's post on page 3 should wrap it up.

Re: Is Lionel Messi Over Glorified?
I think Messi's "glorifation" was highlighted by the 2010 Ballon D'Or.
I wasn't happy with it honestly.
It's the best example I can give. To me he stole a bit of Xavi's glory there.

Re: Is Lionel Messi Over Glorified?
As a Madrid fan it pains me to know that indeed the best player on the planet is not playing in the house that Di Stefano built, he is the best currently simply because his consistent dominance, as good as Ronaldo is he is unable to translate individual play to the team, if Messi is playing terribly then Barca is nothing. The Ibra experiment showed that a certain kind of player can fill the role, as good as Ibra is he could not fill the void when Messi is off the field, if Ronaldo went to Barca i suspect it would go the way of Ibra, using Barca's system as an excuse to his dominance is ridiculous simply because he was already very good the year before Pep.

Even if he were, I'd say he deserves it for the level of his play.
He can as petulant as anybody at times but he deserves any and all praise for his talent.

Re: Is Lionel Messi Over Glorified?
some people act as if he's better than pele, maradona and all these legends.... messi's a wonderful player but people act as if he's the best player to have ever played football which is not true..

TBF I still think Ronaldo would do quite well with Barca as well.
That's not a shot at Messi, I just rate Ronaldo highly.
(Level headed Madrid fan? pffffff ;D)

Meh, Spain won WC. Barca don't need Messi IMO. Xavi's the real cerbral component of Barca. (Iniesta could be the heart.

Re: Is Lionel Messi Over Glorified?
Difference was Spain won all their games 1-0. Argentina with Messi were winning games 4-1, 3-1. and messi was not playing alongside with his club mates. Now imagine if messi was in spain squad (probably spain would win every game 4-0)Lord Hispano wrote:Hala Madrid 91 wrote:As a Madrid fan it pains me to know that indeed the best player on the planet is not playing in the house that Di Stefano built, he is the best currently simply because his consistent dominance, as good as Ronaldo is he is unable to translate individual play to the team, if Messi is playing terribly then Barca is nothing.
