Champions League Draw "2011/2012"

The group stage draw for the Champions League takes place tomorrow. Who would like to face?

I would like Barca to have Lyon, Basel & Dortmund in their Group!

- I just want to avoid Eastern European Teams, We suck when we play in cold weather!!
- I don't mind to be in same group with ACMilan, City & Dortmund!

Regardless of the teams we get, chances are we're still going to be top. So while I would prefer easy opposition, I wouldn't mind getting tough ones either. That being said, I'd rather not draw City from top 3 as they are surely the strongest contestant in that pot, and already having to phase a pot 2 team would make that group a little "too interesting". Not that I think we couldn't - or won't- beat them, but that I'd rather not have an overstuffed schedule.

It was very tough group for both Barca & Inter... This group is very similiar!!

Traveling to eastern europe twice, won't be easy!!

Bate and Victoria are far far weaker teams than Dynamo and Rubin. So should be easy here

Traveling to Czech Republic (Viktoria) shouldn't be that bad. It isn't that far. And Belarus (BATE) is about the equivalent of the Ukraine (Dynamo).

Good points. But I don't think venue matters ... we can master BATE anywhere ... anytime.

Milan and Barcelona have a pretty good relationship (e.g. Trofeo Gamper matches) so it should be good preparation for both teams for the knockout rounds, providing we can defeat the mighty BATE and Plzen

The draw for 1/4, 1/2 and home team in UCL Final (team drawn as a 'Home team' can wear their usual jerseys in the Final) will be at 16.03 12:00 CET, this Friday

Qualified teams for 1/4 ( I will update it after all QF match-ups completed): Milan, Benfica, APOEL, Barcelona

1. I would rather want to avoid AC Milan and probably Napoli(their counterattacks can kill us)

2. Two legs. I want us to go in their own stadium and show them how superior we are and get their fans out the illusion that they are better than us.

3. Well I would say, based on having a simple match, APOEL, but Benfica would not be bad either

4. No idea, can't really say that now, but hopefully we land in the weaker half with a Madrid QF or SF

5. Well only 4 teams are through so I'll put those first: Milan 7, Benfica 3, APOEL 1

That said, if CSKA pull something special at the BernaCow then I think I would want the simplest possible route to the final.

I seriously don't think there is anything to worry. I reckon we can beat any team but if you insist, Madrid, Inter, Chelsea/Napoli, Munich

My wishlist:

Semifinals A vs. B and C vs. D.

A) Barça vs. Apoel B) Madrid vs. Milan

C) Napoli vs. Basel D) Marseille vs. Benfica.

I don't want to face Madrid now.
I want an easy rival for us and the toughest for Madrid. But if we go through and Madrid goes through, I prefer to meet them in the semifinals. In two matches we have much better chances than if we meet them in the finals.

I wouldn't complain if Madrid was handed the strongest half, with Napoli, Bayern Munich/Inter and Milan, and we were in the other half, though.

I think that the only teams that can beat us are Milan and Madrid. I don't buy into Napoli hype and Bayern Munich and Inter can be out.

It would indeed be great if Milan and Real Madrid face each other before eather has to play against Barça. Having to play either one of them in the semi's (after the one knocked the other out of the CL) would be great. So wholeheartedly agree with the post above. Would be best if Milan and Real Madrid would both be knocked out by the 'lesser' teams. But let's face it, that's not going to happen.

Let's see what happens on friday. I hope it's gonna be fun, fun, fun.

AC Milan, I think our style of play suits them and we will have tough battle against team. I hope we will avoid them, I don't want AC to do Inter 2010 over us (we face Inter in the group and then in the semis, now Milan in the group etc.)

2 - Would you prefer playing RM over two legs or in the Final?

Definitely in two legs matchup, 1/4 or 1/2. Over two legs we will be favourite to go through. In one game everything can happen.

3 - Which team would you like to play the most in next round?

APOEL or Marseille if we want the easy matchup, if we have to play one of the top teams then I prefer facing RM, I like our chances against them in two legs with Xabi Alonso out of first leg.

For the last 3 years we landed in the toughest half of the draw, with the real final played in the semis each time (08-09 vs Chelsea, then easy game vs Man U in 'Final', then 09-10 battles vs Inter, we lost, Inter won the 'Final' against Bayern with ease. 10-11 battle vs RM in tough semis, then piece of cake in the 'Final' against average United side.). I think we will land again in the tougher half of the draw with probably match-up with RM in semis.

1 - APOEL, 2 - OM, 3 - Benfica, 4 - Chelsea, 5 - Bayern, 6 - Real Madrid, 7 - AC Milan

Milan or Madrid equally. If we continue on, we will have to face 1 or maybe both eventually, but next round there are easier options

2 legs, less luck involved. That being said, in 1 leg, I wouldnt be any less confident really.

Marseille . Offensively stagnant, defensively decent but nothing for us to fear really.Andre Ayew is their only real threat..at least APOEL park the bus well.

I dont fear Chelsea more than Benfica. Chelsea are more name than anything else. They wasnt even that good today, set peice and a pen to save them. They still look bad at the back.
