Re: Gaddafi's Regime is Collapsing!
Based on GDP growth, Libya cannot compete with many African countries and is far from being most prosperous in the region:buddytaller wrote:Senor Penguin wrote:Most prosperous in terms of ...? A lot of acknowledged indexes don't even list Libya (guess why) and those that do show it as a nation on-par with or below neighboring states.buddytaller wrote:Yuri Yukuv wrote:buddytaller wrote:tYuri Yukuv wrote:

Eat your heart out, your sugar daddy is no more and libya is going to join the modern world. Keep hating on the US and all free people everywhere.
Oh btw, ghaddafi gave you the libyans money not his own. Hopefully the libyans will demand reparations from the africans, swiss and italian along with everyone else who took advantage of the US blockade to suck libyans money.
Don't be silly, the US gives more to Ghana than Libya does, my point is that Gaddafi represented the leader people here clamour for, a leader who against all odds will make the most use of the countries resources, provide free quality education, health and other social benefits, womens rights etc. Gaddafi did just that, go do a little research on the artificial rivers he built in Libya, and read about pre-Gaddafi Libya whilst you're at it.
Buddy, ghaddafi did nothing. Oil is what did everything, the artificial river was just another pyramid project which he used to move some funds around.
Just compare libya to other oil exporting arab countries in the GCC, observe the huge difference in quality of life.
Whatever the case maybe Libya was still the most prosperous African nation, a shame all the hard labour by Gaddafi and other Libyan have been turned into a pile of rubbles..
One of the few indexes I could find where Libya were ahead of others was on the Human Development Index:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_Human_Development_Index
A growing economy which supported a million immigrants (about 20%) of the population of Libyans a booming construction industry, new technologies to improve agriculture and make Libya less reliant on petroleum exports etc.. Thanks for sharing the wikipedia page which buttresses the facts I had earlier researched on.
http://www.economywatch.com/economic-statistics/economic-indicators/GDP_Growth_Constant_Prices_National_Currency/2010/
There are also statistics for 2011 but it doesn't provide any data for Libya. Same thing when I try to find data on technological and agricultural investment for Libya - it's either scarce or non-existent.
So far I've been unable to find proper data confirming your belief that Libya was the most prosperous nation in Africa ...

Some people like Gaddafi some people didn't, can we just accept that already and stop insulting each other, especially buddytaller. Just because his opinion is different from yours dosen't give you the right to start insulting him, that is extremely childish.
But on a different note, if Gaddafi was going to be put on trial for war crimes, Bush and Blair should have been put on trial with him.

People who believe the world is flat deserve to be insulted.
The lies and propaganda buddytaller is sprouting is no different. He is an oblivious man, who would not see the truth if it slapped him in the face. Ghaddafi could have probably raped him and his family and he would still consider him a hero. Well, you know what, the rat and his family have been raping Libya for 42 years.
Jog it on Buddytaller, might as well go and support Congo now, you after all support the raping of a country, no reason not support the use of rape as a weapon of war.

Not spreading propaganda, it's my opinion of things which are shared by millions of Libyans, do you believe Gaddafi had no support in Libya? How would he have survived the many assassination attempts on him by the American government, did you watch the videos I posted, there were millions or at least hundreds of thousands cheering his speeches, were they forced at gun point to listen to Gaddafi speak, in the midst of a full blown crisis.
Disabuse your mind my dear, the world is not flat and Governments of the world's super powers don't have the best interest of countries like Libya at heart. Otherwise they would have resorted to diplomatic dialogue not bombs that sent a developing nation back to the stone age, funny how they preach democracy when they dictate to the world, VETO power et al. Their hypocrisy knows no bounds.

The population of Libya is 6.6 Million, I can't see how "millions" can turn up in a rally. Your "Facts" have been shown time and time again to be inaccurate and false.
What makes t he videos you post to be the truth and the real live feed 7ammod gives to be false. Have you met real Libyans or are you just imagining people.
Developing Nation, really, did you go to Libya or are you getting some information out of your ass. Apparently you do not understand simple logic and facts.

Obviously if people think that Gadaffi deserved to be killed then so should guys like Bush, who are no better humans and are terrorists just as well (but painted opposites in the western world, just like how the other guys are painted as good in the other world). But this does not justify Gadaffi's actions, who deserved to be taken out, humiliated, and killed.
You also brought up NATO's mission in Libya in one of the videos, and while it's obvious that it was intended for other things like oil and countries like the US have a secret policy of dividing local folks up to cause tensions between them, it does not justify Gaddafi's actions.
I think you are mixing things up.

Re: Gaddafi's Regime is Collapsing!
coming to buddy_taller's aid a bit, I would say Ghanaians [at least whilst I was raised up there] have a good deal of respect for Ghadafi, his role in the formation of the OAU heeds this cause,
but where buddy_taller gets it wrong is he makes it seem like Ghanaians justify Ghadaffi's actions against his people as good.
Ghanaians are media propaganda-ed people, the treatment of most people flocking to the streets to see Ghadafi [or the brother-leader according to buddy] is more of the feed the eye's curiosity,
heck if even Osama bin Laden were to drive all the way from Afghanistan to Ghana whilst he were alive, he'd receive the same treatment from the people flocking to the streets to catch a glimpse of him as they'd do for Obama.
That does in no way reflect the general propaganda of Ghanaians for Ghadaffi's actions and neither does it for the government's cause.
I must point out that buddy_taller must have really been a big fan of Flt. Lft. J.J Rawling's PNDC Military Regime to view Ghaddafi's actions in good light or something because I know Rawlings was and is a very good friend of Ghaddafi.....
I do not believe 100% of Ghana supports Ghaddafi's actions and I doubt even buddy_taller even does, but we did admire Ghaddafi's though for what he did for the continent of Africa though...... not for what he did to his own Libyan people...

Re: Gaddafi's Regime is Collapsing!
I don't think too much, I've learnt to read between the lies the US and the mass media tells in order to achieve their own selfish interests, America hasn't shed her Cold War mentality, and aims to rid the world of every form of socialist governance, America and her proxies waged senseless ideological wars in Vietnam and Cuba, just because they chose to be different.
And that is just what happened to brother leader, a victim of circumstances, he chose a path of African Unity and social development for his country after he took over the reigns of Libya in a bloodless coup from a monarchy, which was still in bed with Italy, helping her to impoverish Libya.
So many lies have been told about him without a shred of evidence. He chose to sell his nations oil to China instead of the United States and her allies, guess you don't mess with Big Brother, America has dictated to the rest of the world for ages and yet they hypocritically accuse others of same. They maintain the right of Veto in the UN security council and yet call for democracy in other nations, they have killed and maimed so many innocent civilians in Vietnam, Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya, yet accuses other governments of same. Their hypocrisy knows no bounds, I didn't buy their lies about Iraq (which is worse off than it was in Saddam's time), I didn't buy it in Libya either.
I am against all forms of aggression, and believe the best way to achieve world peace is through diplomacy not lies and bombs. What has happened in Libya is nothing but shameful, it's despicable for anyone to be happy at the sight of a fellow human being being tortured to death, but sadly enough the mass media has turned a lot of people into blood thirsty psychopaths, who take great pleasure in seeing a fellow human being, being treated such an inhumane fashion.

I gave an estimate based on the video which was also broadcasted on CNN, please rewatch the video in the link I posted, and that crowd was just those who came to hear him speak, there were still a lot more in other cities across Libya including his home city of Sirte, which has been bombed to ashes and turned into a ghost town.

Re: Gaddafi's Regime is Collapsing!
Just thought I should share this it's a bit offtopic. Trying not to sound too religious and controversial but this is a prophesy I read in TheTRUMPET, a Christian magazine about 5 YEARS ago, I didn't believe it then, but it strange how things have turned out!

- Spoiler:
- Libya Sees the Deadly Holy Roman Empire
From the May 2006 Trumpet Print Edition »
BY GERALD FLURRY
Just a few words can be so revealing. The words I refer to reveal an imminent war, which will trigger world war iii!
What we see, most people don’t see because they don’t know the history of the Holy Roman Empire. We have written about the coming of this dreadful empire for about 70 years. Now it is almost risen.
Referring to Europe’s response to the Muslim violence over the Mohammad cartoons in February, a report from the German Spiegel Online stated: “There were some [Catholic] voices on the other end of the spectrum. The Italian right called for a crusade. Roberto Calderoli, a minister in Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s cabinet, called in all seriousness for Pope Benedict xvi to lead the Christian world against the ‘threat of Islam’ just as his predecessors did in the 16th and 17th centuries. Just as a major reaction was necessary then to beat back the Turks from the gates of Vienna, Calderoli said, countermeasures are necessary” (February 14).
Roberto Calderoli made this comment “in all seriousness.” There was an immediate outcry. He has since resigned from his exalted office in Berlusconi’s cabinet.
Perhaps he could have survived politically if he had discussed “the threat of radical Islam” instead of just Islam in general.
We have written about one last prophesied crusade. (Request our free booklet The King of the South.) A crusade is coming, just as Calderoli said. Pope Benedict xvi in all likelihood will lead “the Christian world”—mainly Roman Catholics—in that crusade.
The pope doesn’t have an army. Though the military will be guided by the Vatican, it will be led by Germany.
Calderoli could have been more careful with his words about a crusade. But let’s not forget what Benedict and John Paul ii have said repeatedly to European Catholics: “Find your roots.” Those roots just happen to be the Holy Roman Empire—mainly Germany and the Vatican.
Those are the same roots that Calderoli discussed. And those empires have a history of being far more aggressive than what he was discussing!
There have been six of those bloody empires already. The seventh is almost fully formed. What Calderoli proclaimed is precisely what is going to happen! (Also write for our booklet Germany and the Holy Roman Empire. All of our literature is free.) Just because his statement was considered politically incorrect doesn’t mean people aren’t discussing it!
Calderoli knows more about the Holy Roman Empire’s history than most of the American and British peoples do. Our refusal to understand that history is going to force us to make the ultimate sacrifice.
Spiegel Online continued: “Calderoli didn’t have to wait long for a response. ‘Berlusconi must fire his minister and ask Islam for forgiveness,’ demanded Seif al-Islam al-Qadhafi, son of Libyan leader Muammar Qadhafi. Otherwise, al-Qadhafi threatened, ‘Libya, the Arabic world, and Islam would be forced to react.’”
Ironically, Libya is going to be a victim of the Holy Roman Empire. Libya has the same name in Bible prophecy as it has today (Daniel 11:40, 43). This prophecy in Daniel 11 is about a clash between the Holy Roman Empire (king of the north) and radical Islam led by Iran (king of the south). Radical Islam will lose.
Look for Libya to become more aligned with Iran in the near future. It gave up its weapons of mass destruction, as it leaned toward the West. But that foreign policy is going to change. Perhaps it has already begun.
The Bible is a living book. We have been proclaiming for about 70 years that the Holy Roman Empire would rise one more time. For many of those years, there was little or no evidence of such an empire. Now anybody with an open mind can see it.
How astonishing!
We must remember that Calderoli would not make such a statement if the European Union didn’t already have the power to act on those words. That tells us how close the Holy Roman Empire is to being fully created.
German Power
“A former defense minister has provoked outrage and broken a major taboo by suggesting that Germany should have its own nuclear arsenal.
“Rupert Scholz argued that Berlin needed to embrace the idea of a nuclear deterrent in the light of threats from terrorists and the Middle East. ‘We need to ask ourselves how we could react in an appropriate manner to a nuclear threat from a terror state, and if needs be, even by using our own nuclear weapons,’ he said.
“Mr. Scholz, 68, who was the defense minister in Helmut Kohl’s government in 1988 and 1989, said he doubted whether other nations’ guarantees, made during the Cold War, to keep Germany safe in the face of a nuclear threat, could still be trusted.
“‘Without the appropriate guarantees of protection by our partners, the question of our own nuclear deterrent needs to be discussed openly,’ he said.
“‘I am aware that I am addressing a taboo. But in the light of the dangers that weapons of mass destruction could end up in the hands of terrorists, this is a question which deserves serious debate.’
“Germany agreed not to develop nuclear weapons after the Second World War in return for protection from the United States and nato.
“Mr. Scholz’s comments came under attack yesterday. The security spokesman for the opposition Free Democrats, Rainer Stinner, accused him of ‘throwing oil on the fire’ of the tension between Iran and the West” (Telegraph, January 27; emphasis mine throughout).
This former defense minister broke a taboo—that word means he’s talking about something prohibited or forbidden.
Why is his plea for a nuclear arsenal a taboo?
Germany started World Wars i and ii. After Germany’s defeat in World War ii, America and Britain wanted to end the German military threat forever.
In a signed document about American-British-Soviet policy on Germany in February 1945, Franklin Roosevelt, Joseph Stalin and Winston Churchill said, “It is our inflexible purpose to destroy German militarism and Nazism and to ensure that Germany will never again be able to disturb the peace of the world. We are determined to disarm and disband all German armed forces, break up for all time the German General Staff that has repeatedly contrived the resurgence of German militarism [not just before and during the two world wars]; remove or destroy all German military equipment; eliminate or control all German industry that could be used for military production …. It is not our purpose to destroy the people of Germany, but only when Nazism and militarism have been extirpated will there be hope for a decent life for Germans and a place for them in the comity of nations.”
I would encourage you to read those words again. Now, Germany is about to build a nuclear arsenal!
Even Konrad Adenauer, who later became German chancellor, said it was a “calculated risk” to rearm Germany. What a dangerous risk it was! The Germans are the most powerful nation in Europe. And now they are talking about getting nuclear bombs!
Let the world beware.
Here is a dangerous warning from history. But history is virtually ignored in our universities today. Many people are ignorant of this bloody history. That ignorance is going to cost the British and American peoples as never before, if they don’t wake up! •

Re: Gaddafi's Regime is Collapsing!
Nobody WANTED a civil war. On February 17th and on the days that followed, protests broke out. Nobody had a knife, nobody had a gun, they were UNARMED protests. You know what happened to them? They were shot at, and tens of them were killed. I can even remember one night in early March when over 200 people were killed in a single night.
You say that you're against all forms of aggression, but then you condone this crap. Shows how much of a hypocrite you are.
