Our Rivals
We can discuss our rivals in this thread.
Everyone drew apart from City, but the rest all had harder to teams to play, and City had arguable the easiest team in the league at home.
Arsenal, don't know when to shoot and seem to be obsessed with scoring the perfect goal, but I think a midfield of Ramsey and Wilshere will do wonders for them in the long-term.
Liverpool looked great in the first half, but their performance level decreased in the 2nd half.
Chelsea is adapting to a new coaches tactics.
Prediction for the top 4:
Man Utd
Liverpool (only we gained more points than them since Kenny Dalglish took over)
Chelsea
Arsenal

Re: Our Rivals
Good weekend for United- Arsenal, Chelsea and LFC all dropped points, and City, everyone expected them to beat Swansea comfortably at home.
I think out of all the teams that the 'top clubs' played this weekend, United had the hardest fixture and we won. Not many of our title rivals, if any, will go to the Hawthorns and get a win, I gaurantee anyone. They are very difficult to beat under Hodgson and only dropped points once at home since he took over last season.
My point is, United still look the strongest team in the league. Good weekend for us.

I have to disagree here KSA as despite Roy doing a good job with them, it doesn't mean Chelsea's fixture was less difficult as Stoke are simply a better team and more difficult to beat in at home.

Re: Our Rivals
Liverpool picked up a convincing win at Arsenal today, despise the scousers (no surprises ) but can they mount a serious challenge this season?..can they mount a better challenge than Arsenal perhaps?...Thoughts?

Re: Our Rivals
Chelsea were so unconvincing..my God! WBA looked more comfortable against Chelsea at SB than they did against us at their ground last week. Cheslea need some new signings bad imo.
Arsenal did OK tbh...considering the players they had missing..it took an O.G, a man sent off + an offside goal for 'Pool to beat them. I don't think they are in a crisis. Good win for LFC though and I think they will def compete for top 4.
Hope Bolton can get something from their game v City tomorrow.

Re: Our Rivals
city fans suddenly start believing themselves, early performances nearly count for nothing because if you remember chelsea for the 1st 7 games 6 straight wins so there is nothing to be excited about. Manchester city have 1 problem tahts mancini, he cant manage the squad, so man management could be a massive problem. Who saw the look of tevez and balotelli on the bench? they looked like they didnt belong there. The difference between uni...ted and city is that we have the best manager of brittish history who is renouned for man management whereas city have one which is not so good. Mark my words dressingroom unrests will start happening

Re: Our Rivals
Chelsea are nothing special judging by what I have seen of them so far. Average at best.
Man City will be our biggest threat this year.

Re: Our Rivals
Chelsea don't look the same defensively ......usually I would of thought it was because of the new manager, but even watching Porto in the Europa League last season, they didn't look defensively sound.

Re: Our Rivals
With Cech and Luiz they will def look better, I think Alex was on the bench today. But currently they look all over the place. It's more as unit in defense they're playing bad than the indviduals in defense.

Also they are playing without a playmaker, sturridge has been suspended and Mata has only just signed.....
Sign a playmaker( which i think they will do) and play Mata-Torres-Sturridge and David Luiz comes back you will see a major difference.....
Now is not the time to judge Chelsea just like it is'nt the time to judge Liverpool despite thier great start....
Plus with Lukaku,Ramires,McEachran,Alex,Malouda on the bench they have strength on depth( assuming ofcourse they buy a playmaker) and this is without mentioning Bosingwa, Drogba, Anelka and Kalou......
Writing them off because they struggled to beat West Brom and Norwich and drew 0-0 with Stoke is as silly as last year when i said in October they were cert's for the league because of how they started....

Re: Our Rivals
We're not a title rival this season and probably not next either. We're some years behind United, Citeh, and probably even Chelsea (perhaps Arsenal as well) in terms of building a side capable of challenging for the PL title.
With Kenny, Comolli, Henry, Ayre and Werner the future is certainly looking brighter for us though.

Re: Our Rivals
Manchester City are looking very good atm and have started the season in top form. They made Spurs look like crap at their own ground!
Liverpool are looking strong too and are a dead cert to finish either 3rd or 4th imo.

i'll wait till LFC play a top side....they have been impressive tho, but i wanna see someone have a go at that backline.

Let's be honest there's really only one player on the whole backline who can be got out and that is unfortunatly Carragher.....
Kelly is extremely good defensively, Agger is just a boss when fit, If Coates fits in quickly and performs like he did at Copa America i doubt people will get at him either and Enrique as the stats prove just doesnt " get got at"
Despite playing in a midtable side he only was beaten one on one 8 times last year
Compare that to Ashley Cole (38 times), Clichy (26 times), Baines (24 times) & Evra (23 times)"
It just does'nt happen best LB in league imo and should play for Spain ofcourse iam bias but iam pretty sure iam right at the same time
