Re: Our Rivals
My prediction is not looking bad........just not very good.
With the way Man City is playing, I must of let my bias cloud my judgement.

Re: Our Rivals
So what have we learnt this week from our rivals?
that city and especially aguero are looking solid.
that Arsenal needed a very lucky goal to beat Swansea at home, and that Swansea in fact could have scored a couple against them. Arsenal don't look impressive at all.
Chelsea, did what was necessary to get the win. Torres still can't buy a goal...brilliant goal by Sturridge.
LFC are still not putting away chances that is needed to beat the likes of Stoke away from home. They dominated Stoke and were unlicky not to get a pen from a blatant handball... But these results is the difference from a title competing team and one that is battling for fourth.
just my thoughts

Don't look now. Liverpool is playing with 9 men and losing 3-0 to Spurs. Looks like your reservations about Liverpool are right, KSA.

Re: Our Rivals
Arsenal were fantastic yesterday. I can't remember the last time I saw a team outplay Chelsea at their ground like that.
People were writing them off, but imo, they will be in the top 4.

Re: Our Rivals
As good as Arsenal were, Chelsea were still horribly bad defensively. I actually mentioned their defence earlier in this thread and, if they improved, if any, it has been very little defensively.
I also remember watching the Villarreal match last season against Porto, Porto won 5-1 in the end but they were so bad defensively they were just lucky Villarreals finishing that day was that bad. The result flattered them. I'm not sure if its AVB's tactics or the failure of his players to follow his instructions, but that's two of his teams I've seen play like that. I concede didn't watch Porto regularly though and his tactics if executed properly, I think will improve the defence incredibly.

Spurs were the biggest winners this weekend. Could go above us if they win their game in hand They are in great form atm.

Re: Our Rivals
Chelsea struggling under AVB. Feel sorry for him, but has been partially responsible for some of their losses. Don't know why he persists in playing Torres. 1-3 loss at home against Aston Villa.

Re: Our Rivals
Yeah, they did, they had it easy thanks to Baird. I can't comprehend the decision to play him over Riise, who is better defensively, I feel. That, and the fact that a bit of Johnson diving helped Manchester City win, the scoreline wasn't just, but they were the better team.

Re: Our Rivals
It's funny that Vieira said that we were desperate, hence we brought back Scholes, but then Manchester City needed Tevez to make a meaningful contribution against Chelsea. Mancini said that he would never play for City again, yet he decides to bring him back into the squad and, even worse, bring him onto a game. Contradictory, hypocrisy, irony, just the whole lot really. To me, it seems that Vieira was told to say what he said. Or maybe, he got confused and doesn't know what the word desperate means.
Let's face it, without even considering any bias, City were in a fantastic position after they beat us 1-6 at Old Trafford, we were written off. City now find themselves in second position. Now though, their horrendous away form has caught up with them and they bring back a player who lacks respect for his team mates and, more importantly, his manager. That's the definition of desperate right there for you.

Re: Our Rivals
Liverpool have been dire since the Carling Cup win. I've said it before and I'll say it again: if it wasn't Dalglish in charge of the club then there would definitely be more supporters voicing their discontent. At the moment, he is getting preferential treatment.

That CC win is papering over the cracks. Their players look as though they don't give a shit about the league since that win and are fully focuisng on the FA Cup. Which is a terrible mind set to have.
They over spent on dross too.
