Bonucci eager for Spanish test
Italy stopper Leonardo Bonucci is looking forward to the challenge of facing Spain in midweek. “We have no fear.”
The Azzurri will take on the world and European champions in Bari on Wednesday and Bonucci can’t wait.
“We’re playing against one of the strongest sides in circulation,” the Juventus centre-back stated on Monday afternoon.
“It’s a stimulating challenge,” he continued. “But we don’t fear Spain, instead we simply respect them.
“The game could be dangerous on a physical level, but we’re mentally ready for it. We’ll give our all and we are very motivated.
“Spain have some unique players and I’d love to take on Fernando Torres. He has all the characteristics of a modern attacker.”
Bonucci spent the 2009-10 season at Bari and he knows what kind of support the Stadio San Nicola crowd can give.
“I think that Bari, with over 40,000 tickets already sold, have answered what they think about the game,” he added.
“With a stadium that will be almost full to capacity, we’ll do all we can to give something back to the fans for their faith in us.”
