Official: Calum Chambers to Arsenal
Unless Chambers can play CB, don't know why we're in for him when we need a DM desperately.

I like what I see/hear about Chambers, seems very solid defensively for his young age, can play across the back 4 and in midfield aswell. Basically our very own Phil Jones without the face. Very good signing, I'll probably like him more than Debuchy.

he can and does for U19, CB/DM/RB, so he will be our utility man

@bbcsport_david: Chambers expected to be announced on Mon, will join Austria camp. Ospina fee about £3m & #AFC still in market for DMF + DF if Vermaelen goes

Almost Official: Calum Chambers to Arsenal
Wenger on Chambers: He hasn’t played many games but the English players on the market in England are very expensive. At the end of the day I was ready to take a gamble because he is a one for the future. He is a player I wanted because I rated his quality & intelligence. He is only 19 and can play at CB, RB and CM
Going to be official tomorrow.

Re: Official: Calum Chambers to Arsenal
looks to be a great signing
the English typically don't leave big clubs once they've signed.

Re: Official: Calum Chambers to Arsenal
Looks to be a good signing... But We need to pick a position we want him to play And leave him there.
Young expensive talent like him isn't someone you use as a utility player. An old vet like flamini? Sure. But we should figure out what his best position with us can be or else it will be nearly impossible for him to ever become a regular starter here

Re: Official: Calum Chambers to Arsenal
Even though we were linked with him during the summer, I didn't expect us to sign him. I thought Southampton would make it much harder for him to leave, but clearly they've decided to ditch whatever ambition they have and let all their players leave.
He's a player I like a lot and think will eventually become England's starting right back. He's one of the best defensive talents in the country (just a step below Stones for me) and we don't have many of those at the clubs. That he's also English is a massive bonus for me, as I love seeing good English players at Arsenal.
Which position he'll play for Arsenal we can't be sure yet, but Wenger has never spent £12-16mil on a young player without the intention of using him in the first team squad and giving them games. Nowadays a fee like that is nothing to us but not that long ago it would've been one of the highest Arsenal paid out in their history. Walcott and Chamberlain were younger and still got games.
Expectation will be high but he is a young player and one for the future. I think he'll be second choice right back and fourth choice centre half for now and his versatility will be useful as the season goes on. Also, I don't think him not having a set position now will be a problem so long as he's got the skill set to play in those three positions.

Re: Official: Calum Chambers to Arsenal
I'm afraid he will be our Jones; RB, CB & DM. Looking at how Jones has developed last three years or Jack still struggling to find his prefer position, I want Chambers and to some extend Ox, Jack nail their permanent position for asap.

Just imagine the backlash after one bad display. WOB will be back in full force about signing a 19yo RB to solve our post-Gilberto/Flamini times of playing without a proper DM.
I'm glad if this deal happens, but Chambers has to develop and grow, much like Ox or Jenko or Wilshere. Ramsey and Gibbs have kicked on, and Theo did too, after all the patience we had with him in his early years.
If we still sign a Schneiderlein or a Khedira or a Carvalho, (and keep/improve on Vermaelen), then it's a good summer. #InB4DiabyDeception
