The beep test/shuttle run.
Just wondering if anybody on here has done it? It's widley used in Australia to test cardio ability etc.
It's basicly 2 lines/markers 20 meters apart and you run between them to a CD/program between beeps, the beeps get closer together and you have to get faster and faster.

Bleep* I believe
And yeah, in my opinion its one of the most useless things ever.
I have seen it mostly used to test ones stamina for football..which is such bad logic I cant believe people still use it, so outdated.
First of all, anyone who ever done a bleep test knows that at least 75% of the participants dont give their all. My experience of the at least dozen I have done..nearly everyone drops out before that actually have to. They stop when they dont want to run anymore, rather than when they cant go on.
More importantly, its a horrifically poor indicator of your stamina for football.
When in football to you run continuously at a slow speed, gradually getting faster? Never.
In football, you sprint, you jog, you walk..the speeds are constantly changing.
The energy system used in the bleep test is just a small part of what you require for football.

Re: The beep test/shuttle run.
its still a way of measuring stamina, and it is very international now. I rememeber we had that in my class years ago, and those who were very fit came very high, its pretty logic.
I understand your point, but its still a decent test.
