Actually it wasn't really a friendly. If France wins both games against Australia and Finland + Sweden loses to Germany = France likely jumps Sweden in FIFA rankings.

That means France goes from unseeded to seeded for the playoffs which makes a huge difference.

Best players in the game were Ribery, Nasri, Giroud, Pogba and Cabaye.

Some people here thought the likes of Guilavogui, Payet and Gignac were French NT caliber players

Now they face Ukraine in the play-offs.. this team goes as far Ribery goes and thats the bottom line. Pogba is going to need to mature FAST in order for France to qualify to the World Cup next summer.

Here's to hoping DD does the right thing and not call-up Clichy whose been utter useless and calls-up the young Kurzawa instead.. Evra, is going to have to put his money where his mouth is.

You have Lloris, Varane, Koscielny, Pogba, Matuidi, Giroud and Ribery who are all playing at a very high level. Valbuena is not a bad player at all either. And then you have some peeps underachieving right now in Nasri and Benzema. Sagna is top 5 RB in the world too.

At the end of the day, the starting XI for France is extremely talented. It does rely on the probable Ballon d'Or winner to set the pace... but that's normal. In the past 15 years, it has relied on Zidane then Henry then Benzema and now Ribery. That's how it works with all teams imo if the have a standout player.

This XI to me can compete with anyone on a given day:

Sagna-Varane-Koscielny-Abidal
2 of Pogba-Matuidi-Cabaye
Remy/Nasri-Valbuena-Ribery
Giroud/Benzema

This team has no weakness if the players are on the same page.

Benzema is in better form and a much better player than Giroud... but this is a team built around Ribery and Ribery does better with targetman CFs. Giroud is the same player as Mandzukic basically.

I don't know if Valbuena would have been better than Nasri in that case.

Or France is just not good. Lets not sugar coat the facts here. France is not an elite NT. If you saw their WCQ campaign, then it was quite clear France would struggle in this tie against a better opponent than the likes of Georgia, etc.
