Haven't seen the rumor about Douglas. He's the Twente CB, right?

Douglas is the Twente CB, supposedly a physical beast, great in the air and quick ( fits a Colo partner like a glove)

Also yes Pieters was a target and was very close to joining but we cud'nt agree a fee alot like the Cisse situation actually we tried for him last summer but we couldnt agree a fee so we waited until January and then got him for cheaper ( according to our head scout we bought Cisse for 8m)

I believe the same could happen with Pieters. Also about Santon recently its been revealed he was bought as a young defender for the squad and long term he would be RB and Enrique still hasnt been replaced yet.

I presume Pieters is one of the people they are looking at to replace Enrique.

Got Higuian type numbers as far goals per minute go atm lol, and like Higuian is all round play is very underrated imo.

Some people have the balls to compare him to Bent atm Newcastle United FC - Page 24 Yao

Good game to watch, i think we were a bit unlucky hitting the woodwork twice. We created more chances and played some good football away from home and at a very tough ground, newcastle didnt seem to trouble our defence as much, and ben arfa was the only real danger i felt. Though they did take their chances which we failed to do. Just annoyed they were legit goals and not from dodgy fouls so now i cant rant! Evil or Very Mad

Yeah you was a bit unlucky, we was nowhere near our best today so i'm happy to get the win but we have to improve and i'm sure we will.

Sorry Mole, that was twice in one sentence, and you did it in the Tottenham thread to so I had to correct it.

Mole how do you think you guys will do this season? Obviously it's hard to predict before the end of the transfer window, but still.

Do you predict a finish above Tottenham?

Let me wait until after the deadline Razz

If we get a quality RB and CB then i'm confident of actually improving on last season but if we don't then i still think we will get top 6 but we won't get as close to 4th.

Saying that a lot depends on injuries and Europa League.

As for finishing above Spurs i go back to it but it all depends if we get a RB and a CB and you replace Modric and Ade then it's game on.

If we strengthen and you don't then we will finish above you but if you strengthen and we don't then i think you will finish above us.

As it stand's i'm confident we will get those players and finish above you but at the same time i don't think either of us will get top 4.

Although i do think top 4 is wide open currently.

i went to bed at half time and i was plesntly surprised by the scoreline, first half was all Spuds, although Ben Arfa looked lethal.

Im sort of surprised nobody got sent off either Atkinson was pretty much handing out the yellow cards in the first half

Not sure of his name but going off Fatmans point i reckon newcasltes RB could of got sent off, had few challenges and bale was all over him and then for some reason bale just stopped going at him. I reckon if he kept running at him he could of drawn another challenge and got that 2nd yellow

Yep Simpson was awful in the first half.

The main reason Bale couldn't get at him as much in the second half is because we controlled the game a lot better when we changed to 4-3-3 and pushed Spurs back.

We was very poor in the second half, but in the second half we controlled a lot better and that pleased me the only issue was lack of chances created.

But it will come.

Both teams seemed to take it in turns to control possession but newcastle were way more effective after you changed formation. I still think our defence handled pre much everything that came at us and handled Cisse rather well, Unluckily for us Ba is so dam clinical and silly old Vdv made a clumsy challenge

Cisse is shat in 4-4-2 like the whole team, until we go back to 4-3-3 his form won't improve.

Also Everton will batter us, we are shite atm and can't even beat Villa Laughing

It's only one game mate.Don't worry, Newcastle has a better squad than Everton and will regain their last season from in a few games.

Maybe this 1-1 against Villa came like a cold shower for the players Wink.

We finished 5th because of the change to 4-3-3 and Cabaye and Ben Arfa pushed forward Jonas sitting alongside Tiote and Ba as a left inside forward and Cisse as CF.

If we don't go back to that and soon, nothing will change.

We are just awful with 4-4-2, we could beat Everton with 4-3-3 sure but seeing as the manager seems hell bent with 4-4-2 atm i can't see anything but a comfortable Everton win.

This is our 3rd or 4th best squad under Moyes.I'd be extremely happy if we manage to finish in a Europa League place.
