This is our 3rd or 4th best squad under Moyes.I'd be extremely happy if we manage to finish in a Europa League place.

Tbh this season I think Everton's squad look more impressive than Newcastle. I'm more afraid of them than I've ever been this past decade.

Everton v Newcastle United – The Premier League Years

Everton and Newcastle lock horns at Goodison Park on Monday night in what promises to be a titanic battle.

Both teams will be hoping to secure a top-four finish this season, but do their previous Premier League meetings on Merseyside give any indication as to where the points might end up?

Newcastle United FC - Page 25 EVE_V_NEW

The Basics
Matches Played: 18

Everton Wins: 9

Draws: 4

Newcastle Wins: 5

Everton Goals: 26

Newcastle Goals: 19

Although their Premier League record at Goodison Park is not too bad, it is important to note that Newcastle have enjoyed just a single victory in their last nine top-flight visits to the ground.

Streaks

The most consecutive victories enjoyed by Everton in this fixture stands at four (between the 2004/05 & 2007/08 seasons)
Newcastle have never triumphed in consecutive stagings of this fixture
Everton boast the record unbeaten run in this fixture at seven games (between the 2002/03 & 2008/09 seasons)
Three games represents the longest unbeaten run that Newcastle have managed in this fixture (between the 1999/00 & 2001/02 seasons)
Everton hold the record for scoring in consecutive stagings of this fixture at nine games (between the 2000/01 & 2008/09 seasons)
If Newcastle find the net on Monday night, it will equal their record of scoring in five consecutive stagings of this fixture (set between the 1999/00 & 2003/04 seasons)

Once again, Everton appear to be the dominant force in historical terms.

Scoring Patterns – By Time Period

Here is a look at when each team has scored their goals in this fixture:

0-15 minutes: EVE (1) v (2) NEW

16-30 minutes: EVE (8-) v (1) NEW

31-45 minutes: EVE (3) v (3) NEW

46-60 minutes: EVE (5) v (6) NEW

61-75 minutes: EVE (5) v (2) NEW

76-90 minutes: EVE (4) v (5) NEW

Points of interest are:

Just three goals have been netted during the first 15 minutes of play
Everton have outscored Newcastle by eight goals to one during the 16-30 minute time period
In the history of this fixture, 60% of the goals have been scored during the second half

Scoring Patterns – By Type

Here is a look at how each team has scored their goals in this fixture:

Open Play: EVE (9) v (13) NEW

Corner: EVE (5) v (0) NEW

Free-Kick: EVE (5) v (0) NEW

Direct Free-Kick: EVE (0) v (0) NEW

Penalty: EVE (7) v (4) NEW

Own Goal: EVE (0) v (2) NEW

It is worth noting that:

Nearly 25% of the goals scored in this fixture have been penalties (24.44%)
Penalties apart, Newcastle have never scored from a set-piece
Everton have scored just 34.62% of their goals in open play

Scoring Patterns – General

Here are a few other goal-related facts:

Everton have netted at least two goals in 50% of these encounters
Newcastle have scored no more than a single goal in 12 of the 18 stagings of this fixture
Five of the nine Everton victories have been by exactly a two-goal margin
Four of the five Newcastle victories have been by exactly a two-goal margin
Everton have kept a clean sheet in six of their nine wins
Newcastle have scored at least two goals in four of their five wins
David Unsworth is the leading scorer in this fixture with three goals
Six members of the current Everton squad have netted for the team in this fixture (Anichebe – 2 goals/Neville – 1 goal/Fellaini – 1 goal/Pienaar – 1 goal/Jelavic – 1 goal/Heitinga – 1 goal)
Two members of the current Newcastle squad have netted for the team in this fixture (S.Taylor – 1 goal/Ben Arfa – 1 goal)
Everton have collected 28 points from a possible 30 when opening the scoring in this fixture
Newcastle have opened the scoring in this fixture on seven occasions, going on to win five, draw two and lose none of these matches

The Card Count

There can be fireworks when two big clubs go head-to-head, but has this been the case in these encounters?

*In the figures below, two yellow cards and one red card have been counted when a player has been sent off for a ‘second bookable offence’:

Yellow Cards – EVE (29) v (46) NEW

Red Cards – EVE (2) v (3) NEW

It should be pointed out that:

Newcastle have picked up 17 more yellow cards than Everton
Every single staging of this fixture has produced at least one yellow card

Miscellaneous

Here are a few more statistics that are worth looking at:

Everton have had 117 ‘Shots on Target’ in this fixture at an average of 6.50 per game
Newcastle have had 73 ‘Shots on Target’ in this fixture at an average of 4.06 per game
Everton have found the net once every 4.50 ‘Shots on Target’ in this fixture
Excluding own goals, Newcastle have found the net once every 4.29 ‘Shots on Target’ in this fixture

David Moyes’ men have recent history on their side, boasting six wins from the last nine stagings of this fixture. This has to make them favourites, though it will also be interesting to see if Newcastle can break their set-piece duck.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has admitted last season's top scorer Demba Ba could leave the club for £7m in January.
The 27-year-old Senegal striker is believed to be frustrated at his current role at the club and talks over a new contract have reached an impasse.
It was thought Ba's £7m buy-out clause expired on 31 July, but Pardew revealed it is still active in the new year.

"There is that clause in his contract and it makes us vulnerable, " he said. "It's still open in the next window."

Newcastle were seriously unlucky to only draw the Wear/Tyne derby. A harsh red for Tiote and Sunderland could not get anything done for an hour even with their numerical advantage.

According to L'Equipe Newcastle Utd are closing in on Arsenal legend Aliadiere from French side Lorient: http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Aliadiere-vers-newcastle/322311#xtor=CS1-12-[Aliadiere-vers-newcastle-322311

"To play in the Premier League would be a dream come true," said Sissoko.

"It is a fantastic league and I enjoy watching it.

"Newcastle are a fantastic team and would be attractive to any player. I am no different."

Debuchy:

"I could not go to Newcastle because the president of Lille did not want me to go," Debuchy told L'equipe.

"At times it was a decision that was difficult to deal with over the summer and, yes, I was disappointed.

"I hope there will be other opportunities, but for now that is all in the past. I will give 200 per cent for Lille and I have never said I am unhappy here. I am not sure what my future will be after this season though."

Yo, question for Mole and anyone who watches Newcastle regularly.

I play soccermanager and have $90 million right now and can buy Davide Santon to grow my massive youth team for $6 million. Is he worth it? I know he has massive potential in FIFA but how has he been playing, what does his situation look like with Newcastle etc.

He's been our best player this season IMO and ask any fan they will say he's been our most consistent.

As far as he's situation goes he has a Geordie Girlfriend and seems very happy where he is at the moment.

What is soccer manager btw? because while he's performing fantastically at the moment he's not exactly scoring or assisting so he wouldn't be a good choice for Fantasy Football for example.

www.soccermanager.com

I've never played Football Manager but from what I understand, soccermanager is football manager's slow cousin, even though it's still very fun. You just take control of a club and buy players. Their ratings change at a minimum of every 4 months or can go for long periods of time untouched if they don't play particularly well or badly.

For example, Santon is an 87 and his last rating change was in January 2010. So from what you're saying, he'll go up the next time they review the Premier League.

Players aren't going to make this team better lol

A change in style or tactics will (or management, which would obviously bring in a change in style/tactics unless it's someone from Stoke).
