Thats World Cup as Messi and Modric proved in 2023 and 2018. Vinicius is nonexistent for Brazil

We're in a non-WC year so the CL takes it. And even still, I'm not fully convinced a world class CL campaign wouldn't be enough to supersede a great world cup performance. CR7 won it in 2014  after a first round WC exit off the back of La Decima and his CL goalscoring record. Not even Messi's final run was enough to sway voters. in 2018 Ronaldo killed his own BO chances by vanishing in the most decisive moment and getting overshadowed by Navas, Bale, and Benzema in the semis and final. Modric wasn't some surefire candidate.

tbf those coefficents for 2015 Barca are so low because City and PSG didn't have any CL history at that point, but those were good teams

I think some people in both the Trump and Harris camps are like that, to be fair. All top football clubs have people who are like that, as well. I think we can all agree that there's been a lot of referee complaints from both RM and Barca fans on here. And it's the same all over the internet.

I've lately taken note of a lot of Arsenal fans on the internet and on social media who seem to be in a constant state of victim-hood, and I don't doubt that there's some truth to their complaints, but the complaints get tiresome and redundant eventually.

Right now, Real Madrid fans on the internet are the worst of the worst. It's full mental breakdown mode. I may be a Real Madrid fan, myself, but the hysteria I've been seeing everywhere since our El Clasico loss has been exceptionally over the top. Some people don't have any restraints, and it doesn't benefit anyone involved.

I thought it was Rodrigo de Paul's social media accounts they were spamming with insults. Either way, it's pathetic and unnecessary behavior that reflects really poorly on us as a fanbase. The kids are coming out of the woodwork.

The reaction is indeed shocking tbh. And it's not like we're talking about a club that's desperate for the award or has a history of being snubbed, they just had a winner two years ago

They were good teams but neither were elite European contenders and both continued to underachieve in Europe in the following years. These two weren't some historically difficult challenges to overcome in 2015, especially for a team like Barça.

The hardest possible path to a CL title is rarely the one featuring all the champions of the top 5 leagues. Context matters here and winning a league title doesn't automatically make you an elite Champions League team. There were long stretches when 2 and even 3 of the top 5 leagues produced subpar champions that weren't good enough to seriously contend for the CL. You can take any random year and imagine what that path could have looked like. The hardest possible path to the 2010 CL wasn't the one that had Bordeaux and Wolfsburg in it
