Post by BarcaLearning Mon Jul 08, 2024 4:23 pm

Most if not all of the KOs so far has been very tight games though right? I dont think any team is that good or bad enough to do anything to another team they want... plus everyone is so cautious perhaps bar Spain?

Anyway, really looking forward to it... still one more days wait argh...... actually the more I think about it the more im confident about France... I mean its Mbappe vs Carvajal ffs, if Mbappe still doesnt deliver than I give up n hes definitely flopped Razz On the other hand would love to see Dembele vs Cucurella Very Happy If Deschamps wanna be cautious just play Grizemann alongside him to help defend Razz Still better than the other donkeys... France dont have a 9 to score anyway n just rely on shooting so might as well just play them 3 Razz Im old n refuse to believe Spain a weaker team should beat a much better team in France

How Spain plays is exactly how France wants teams to play. The Netherlands didn't do it (went against their own DNA)... neither did Belgium or Portugal.

Regardless of how poorly Mbappe is playing... teams fear him. They can't play a high line.

I predict that Spain will and that's the one thing that Mbappe can take advantage of today. His mask makes it hard for him to see in tight spaces or dribble since his peripheral vision is gone. But in space, he can run.

I want to see Yamal and Cucarella play high on the side of Mbappe, Rabiot and Hernandez. In fact, I expect it. Same with Nico and whoever is playing left back... you're not getting past the trio of Griezmann, Kante and Kounde defensively as both Doku and Leiao found out.

Spain is going to crash and crash hard. They will need to go to plan B because France never allows plan A to work against them. If Spain can execute plan B (which I've never seen), then yes... they'll win. Otherwise, France will grind this out.

French and Real Madrid media already panicking and making excuses for Mbappe.

▪His exhausting conflict with PSG
▪The reduction in his playing time at PSG which led to a worrying fitness situation
▪The political situation in France, which mobilises his thoughts
▪Truncated preparation with France
▪Back pain and knee injury at the beginning of June
▪Broken nose and restrictive mask

Please join in and make more excuses for our Frenchman.

-The plumbing in his million dollar penthouse in Paris has been iffy due to the arrondissement buildings being centuries old has been distressing him.
-Consistent bad stomach from local german currywursts
-His idol Ronaldo had his final euros

Sports pls.

I highly rate what you wrote but Spain is the exact team who's made to weave upon a Deschamps stiff defence. France generally struggle against teams who move the ball fast and use wide areas well since the fullbacks are prone to lapses and pressing too high.

I dont even believe in plan Bs in futbol as it is unless you're a reactive and countering team. I want de la Fuente to play the exact system he did versus Italy in fact.

France going to be taught a lesson soon. Proud

No excuses. Mbappe is off form for known reasons (back and nose). Nothing more, nothing less. What he can do, is run is space and take a shot. What he can't do is dribble and move in tight spaces.

We'll see how Spain plays him. With his current issues, you can stop him unlike when he's 100%. However, you need to sacrifice the high line and move 2 players to his side, which is what everyone is doing in the tournament. Will Spain change its style of play to compensate for Mbappe? I doubt it. But I didn't think Portugal would do it either. First I've seen Bernardo Silva play a more defensive game positionally... ever.

Completely wrong.  We LOVE teams who play fast and with high line... absolutely the best matchups.  We suck against teams that sit back because of the current form of Griezmann and Mbappe.

Nobody has attacked us with their typical style.  Will Spain be scared too?  Maybe.  I hope not.  I want Spain to come at France so France can, finally, use its speed.

To be honest having fractured my nose and playing with a mask, it severely hampers you as a midfielder and or forward. Like any dimension or idea of the field is gone and just makes it suffocating somehow. For defensemen it seems to be easier since they've a wider scope of things so I do get his form.

Deschamps is again, world class but also just not playing to his strengths imo.

Euro 2024 - Page 24 Empty Re: Euro 2024

Post by sportsczy Mon Jul 08, 2024 11:04 pm

The other thing is that France is better individually than Spain in almost every position:

Maigna v Simon - Maignan
Saliba/Upamicano v Nacho/Laporte - France by a mile
Kounde/Hernandez v Navas/Cucurella - France by a mile
Tchou/Kante/Rabiot/Cama v Rodri/Olmos/Ruiz - Rodri holds his own but that's it
Griezmann/Mbappe v Nico/Yamal - On current form, Spain.  But normally, not even close
Thuram/Kolo Muani v Morata/Oyarzabal - They all suck frankly.  But since France hasn't scored, give Spain this one

This is the first time where Spain is clearly "out-talented".  Germany was a system team... not great talent.  You had Rudiger, Kroos, and Kimmich (Kroos lack of pace was a big issue, however).  But beyond that...  Italy has no talent basically.  Croatia is geriatric.

So Spain's play will need to compensate for the talent deficit for the first time, whereas the play was a competitive advantage against others.

Me too but i was a defender.  It was "ok" because you read the play in front of you most of the time.  You can't see or feel to the sides or behind you... all that instinct is gone.  It's very hard.

As a forward, you need awareness all around you.  The only times it 's ok is when you quickly shoot or run behind defenders.  Everything else is very tough I imagine.

That's why i think Spain will give Mbappe some opportunities.  They will give him some space to run and shoot.  The other teams played him to dribble and he can't dribble in a crowd or see a pass with the mask (no vision).

So Carvajal is out? Even better, Navas is even older Razz Also Dembele vs Cucurella I would love to see... pls make it happen Deschamps...

Will be interesting to see if Spain do what they do normally or might go for a plan B, whatever the case, France would need to underperform n not score again in order for Spain to win I think, I just dont see how that can happened for the whole tourney... actually most of France have performed well, bar the front line... n Muani has actually been good last game, so wouldnt be surprised if he starts again... but whenever Dembele plays, he also needs to step up big time, cos all hes done is sky countless shots high...

What happened to his back?

I just arrived back home from my vacation. I haven’t been able to pay full attention to the euros due to my girlfriend not being into football. I did watch him injure his nose, but I wasn’t aware that he had a back injury as well. How is he playing, at all? Euro 2024 - Page 24 1f605

That’s the whole point, Thimmy. He isn’t really playing. He is no where close to himself, yet Sports keeps blurting out shit that Mbappe is going to break out tonight. I’m anxiously sitting back until after tonight to remind everyone how ridiculous Sports’ trolling predictions are.

He must be on some heavy sedatives for his back, because apparently he’s registered the fastest sprint in the euros at 36.5km/h. I was in track and field in college and I would struggle to jog, let alone sprint with a back injury. I just read that he has a knee injury as well. How is he mobile?

Vibe: Whipping is more than what I’d get if I had spent the first half of our vacation watching 180+ minutes of football by myself every day Laughing

I’ve watched quite a few of the matches, but I’ve also missed more of them than I usually do. My cousin and her husband arrived on the Canary isles a week after we did, which allowed me to watch games more frequently, as my cousin would keep my girlfriend occupied and I could then watch games with her husband.

Listening to English tourists complain about England’s performances while we were eating in restaurants, never got old. The scouse and brummie accents made it particularly amusing to listen to, while I was digging into a steak that was about the size of my cousin’s son.

France has a stronger bench but I don't think their starting lineup is as inform as Spain's. However, Carvajal will be missed

I still think Espana takes it though. Viva ESPANA!
