Or just a typical case of an offensive fullback getting exposed when there isn't a functional midfield to protect him.

The same can be said about Cancelo tbh. Can't stand it when BPL fans rave about him.farfan wrote:Myesyats wrote:Withdrawal symptoms of performance enhancing drugs?

and btw Cancelo is the one always rinsed when Liverpool play City. Don't hear about him only because he just less hated.

I remember when the beta version of Vinicius destroyed Trent in 2020...knew back then lad is overrated af. If Theo Hernandez was British and played in PL pundits would be all over him and say he should be in Balon D Or top 5.

Yeah, I was very very high on him his first season but the reality is he hasn't had a great game in like 18 months now and as you say he ruins so many attacks. I honestly don't think he will be in the starting 11 for much longer.

Wonder how Eriksen will look in his position. Looks like a smarter player who doesn't try to get rid of the ball as soon as he gets it

Mourinho deserves respect for calling out quite a few players who've now turned out exactly like he said

I’ve been calling out most of the same players based on watching them over a longer period of time. Seems to me like the only reason why criticizing those players was ever considered to be controversial is because most football fans are much more idealistic than realistic.
If a player doesn’t look convincingly good on a fairly consistent basis, then all you’re left with is flashy moments of non-sustainable talent. And that’s only useful for short tournaments and isolated matches.

barring injuries there's no way Maguire ever starts for us consistently at the back again
Varane - Martinez a revelation compared to the shit we've seen last few yrs

I don’t disgree, but I definitely feel like Varane has lost quite a bit of consistency as he’s gotten older, and Martinez looks like a liability against teams that cross a lot.

Was gonna say Martinez looks quite suspect imo, but definitely an upgrade over Maguire

Re: 2022/2023 Premier League Discussion
cagey game kinda, we were solid at the back - Dalot, shockingly good. Varane and Martinez solid. Malacia looks very good, bargain at 12m or w/e
I think this absolutely hastens our imminent signing of Gakpo or Depay though, its so clear Rashford isn't built for playing centrally (completely invisible again)
Elanga too raw also, it's clear that we will probably sign a new CF + Antony. De Jong would be great but I suspect it's dead - especially if we are dropping 100M on Antony. We also don't really need him with Casemiro/Mctominay/Fred/Donny/Eriksen

Old. Not motivated. We need to move him on. Nobody is in for him though, must hurt. I see us loaning him out and covering 75% of his wages lmao.

Re: 2022/2023 Premier League Discussion
agree, but I thought the hate Mounrinho got for calling out the players was over the top. I get he is controversial and some of the things he does could be called bullying but he has been right on the majority. He deserves an apology from those pundits who criticised him for calling out the playersThimmy wrote:halamadrid2 wrote:Mourinho deserves respect for calling out quite a few players who've now turned out exactly like he said

Chelsea have been boring recently and sluggish, but it could be a decent watch since Leicester and them need a win.
Liverpool will bend Bournemouth over who have lost they’re last 2 games 4-0 and 3-0.
City VS Palace could be good as Palace has performed well against them last season don’t think City scored against them and Palace drew and beat them in both fixtures.
But who knows at the end, watch Liverpool game being the better watch
