Xavi needs to scold Fati for the numerous chances wasted in this game by not passing it man...

Good selection by Chavi today. Finally dropped his pet busquets and dembele who is back to his usual turnover self, garcia is obviously rubbish and raphinha is sadly not more effective, ferran was quite good today and at least he doesnt lose the ball.

these players should be starting on the bench if we judge on merit.

Yea, thats always gonna be Dembele I guess, hit or miss. The reason why im a fan is just hes so exciting when at his best, n for so many yrs we've just had alternatives that were not good enough, so hes still our best attacking threat apart from Lewand... although despite his improvement, it seems he'll just still struggle vs top defenses without space. Agree if he doesnt continue to improve n tune out huge negatives like too much turnover which leads to so many problems for us n just too much misses over hits than he might drop down the pecking order...

Modric is just amazing... its like Real play with 12 players Razz He can drop back into D almost n resist any press easily, make players from midfield, long shots goals, help the wings to create, when defending he can press from up the opposition GK/CB or even LB, as well as sit back in front of his D but pressing anyone who comes into his territory... ppl saying De Bruyne is cheat coded, but so is Modric Razz

Btw, how tf is Lamela still at a decent club, just a fraud of a player, completely useless?

He probably won't but that tackle was nasty. Should have been a red imo.

This is the worst Bilbao in years. Credit to Bumverde

Not sure why Eric Garcia still gets chances, he's an absolute waste of space. Would rather give a chance to someone from the academy

La Liga teams have been poor for a while now... like Bilbao still playing old Inaki Williams n then subs on old Raul Garcia in place of him just shows the states of things? Sevilla, Villarreal, Valencia, etc. all suck esepcially up front, there hasnt been any WC forwards in the league it seems for a while, meaning not much challenge to us n Real except Atletico Madrid or the occasional surprise team of a season who also dont have much up front Razz

Really zzzz league nowadays, with Real easily top, us n Atletico fighting for 2nd prolly n then the rest...

Araujo injured
Christensen injured
Pique benched after terrible performances

That leaves us with Kounde, Eric and M.Alonso..... unironically Marcos is a much better CB than Eric Laughing

Yeah, that was the best performance I have seen from Dembele at Barcelona. Like hands down his best performance.

Athletic didn't make matters any better by being dross but still, perfect performance from Dembele.

I think the quality of the league has gone down considerably this year. It was sad to see Sevilla play the way they did against us. Who's there that can challenge the big 2? Probably only Betis right now and even they are abit unpredictable. Sad!

And yet these teams (the ones in Europa League) are playing well!

Could it be that RMad are much much better as evident by their CL record. Although, some games this season have been close, no team has been able to play at Madrid’s level, even Barca. I know some of us find faults in the lineup, but overall there is no weakness and the depth esp. has improved immensely over last year.

I feel the finances of clubs has a lot to do with what we are seeing. There are only 10 clubs (RMad, City, Bayern, PSG, Chelsea, Pool, ManU, Ars, Spurs and Barca (for this season)) that can afford to buy top players while teams like Sevilla have to sell off their talent and thus it is a constant struggle for teams outside of the select group to try to continue to develop talent. Even within this select group some (Barca, Spurs, Arsenal, maybe Pool) have difficulty keeping up with the deep pockets clubs and teams like Bayern and RMad have very strategic acquisition plans to be able to keep up with those teams.

I think the quality is still the same to be honest. At least from the past couple of seasons. But if we comparing to say couple of years ago, when atleti were doing there thing in Europe and Sevilla was a europa threat, yes the argument can be made about it going down.

But I feel it's been relatively the same in the last say 4 years. With me, as long as we're winning games and titles I'm comfortable. But a lot of it has to do with finances and especially marketing. I've always said la Liga has done a poor job of promoting its product. It's like they rely on madrid and barca to do that for them

Just think about the case of Diego Carlos. They guy had the option to play Champions League with Sevilla (4th) but instead chose to play Conference League with West Ham (7th).

That's telling me the 7th team in England has gazillions more in salary to offer than the 4th team in Spain. And that's freaking sad.
