Prime Carvajal was a genuinely great fullback who excelled on both sides of the pitch. A lot of things have happened since then.

Watching benchwarmers like Zinchenko, Jesus, Foden playing so well makes you realise how stacked this team is.

On the other have you have the invisible beta Carvajal, Valverde (who covers ground well and defends okay but he is an absolute liability in possession). God forbid if any of Madrid's starters get injured. Anyone bar Camavinga would make my eyes hurt.

He shouldn't. As amazing as he is, he is playing in a fully functioning team full of stars whereas Benzema is carrying the whole team on his shoulder.

City decimated Madrid out there in the first 30 minutes. They should’ve put the tie to bed but they can’t kill off a game for shit.

They’re superior tactically to Madrid, but Madrid scores from half chances, goalie blunders, deflected shots, and last minute penalties. They’re a team you can’t afford to not finish off. Now they’ve made the game much more complicated for themselves.

De Bruyne usually gets the City related votes in these awards.

Though I think Benz should and will win it. Haven’t seen a CL carry job like this since Ronaldo 2017/Messi 2019. I think his is more impressive than both of them.

Madrid don't have nowhere near Atlético's discipline when defending. They have gaps everywhere. Even when they have the ball, the players are poorly positioned to receive the ball or stretch City.
