Haaland's next destination
Re: Erling Haaland's adventures in Manchester City
If he stays injury free and hits his potential then he’s going to finish as the all time top scorer in official competitions. That’s his ceiling.
Yeah he’s not Ibra technically, but he joined the best coach in the world when it comes to improving that aspect.
He’s a better goal scorer at 22 than Ibra was. Physically it looks like he was made in a lab. 6’5 with electric pace and a rocket of a left foot. Sky’s the limit really.

.BarrileteCosmico wrote:Man the way people talk about Haaland after just 1 game is kind of insane. "Scary", "will destroy", "like a viking come again". Let's chill on the hyperbole. He's not R9. I'm sure he will score a lot, because any top CF playing for a Pep team will score a lot, but he has to earn his place at the podium before this kind of talk is warranted.
He is not "any top CF" though. The style doesn't need to be that of R9 or Ibra, he plays his own way and imo he has potential to be among the all time greats in his position

This.
I have no fucking clue where this hype is coming from for he is prolific but isn't showing a ridiculous amount of skill, but pace and accurate powerful shooting not to mention his movement and hunger for goals.
Stop.

Re: Erling Haaland's adventures in Manchester City
IMO he will win the golden boot in his first season, the way he attacks the box "like an animal" as Pep describes it is a trait that only the top of the top have.

Re: Erling Haaland's adventures in Manchester City
He will make the right runs and he has the pace to beat his marker(s) and the lethality to finish his chances. But at the end of the day it all depends on whether City's attacking players would release the ball to him early enough. Over the past few seasons they play the safe pass, only KDB plays these kind of passes. Gündoğan, Rodri, even Silva are way too 'safe' and risk averse to play the risky ball into him. Their wingers Mahrez and Grealish also hog the ball for too long. Tactics need to change if Haaland is to become successful.
Also teams play deep so he won't have much space to run into. His goal against West Ham came from the opposition having pushed high with plenty of space for him to exploit. The bread and butter game he played at BVB.
Don't forget even Sancho looked good at BVB.

Re: Erling Haaland's adventures in Manchester City
I think Pep has given away/had to sell a bunch of his line breaking players over the year: Sterling, Sane, and possibly B Silva
He had Foden and Grealish starting against WHU, I wonder if Haaland would benefit more from incisive wingers rather than CM/CAMs-turned-wingers

Re: Erling Haaland's adventures in Manchester City
@Nivash Adriano was a special case of unfulfilled potential. We all know what went down in his personal life which lead to his professional downfall. So unless, something of a similar nature befalls Haaland's path, I don't think we have to worry about that.
He is worth every bit of the hype imo. I've been saying it for the past two years. Dude's the future of football. Absolute psychopath in front of goal. Pep just needs to cater to his strengths, or perhaps even maximise him by adding to his skillset.

Mbappe > Haaland anyway
This rivalry should continue in this era after Messi/CR, love it.

If he can avoid injuries he'll be the best CF for years to come.

Re: Erling Haaland's adventures in Manchester City
If Haaland could improve his passing there'll be no stopping him. He'll be a complete player. Feel like his substandard passing will let him down when a team bunkers down in their box

2 hat-tricks in first 5 games of his debut season. We are witnessing history, arent we?
How many games it took Ronaldo to score first hattrick in his debut season at Madrid?

I can't believe some posters were asking us to cool the hype down Imagine doing that tired spiel for the undisputed CF talent of this generation.

Some guy in a Goal.com comment section claimed that he would struggle to adapt to the physicality of the prems. Even got a few thumbs up for TRUTH

Perez: "You cannot sign Haaland as a backup/bench warmer to Benzema."
Passing on Haaland to bet on a 35yo Benzema is one of the dumbest mistakes Perez has ever done.

Re: Erling Haaland's adventures in Manchester City
Pérez went all in for Mbappé who bailed out last minute. Cant hardly blame him. Haaland also chose City apparently (good move for sure). Btw Mbappe might be available in 2 years (he signed a 3 year contract with PSG ) so RM could still go for him.
And I read that Haaland have an option to.leave in 2 years as well ?
Pérez is the smartess businessman out there. Not spending crazy money like the english clubs and still winning titles after titles.

No way in hell, Real Madrid ever go after Mbappe, that boat has sailed. As to Haaland, you can bet they will attempt Haaland in 2 years.
One of the reasons, Mbappe was prioritized over Haaland, besides RW vs CF, was player attitude. They thought highly of Mbappe whereas Haaland was an unknown. But as it turned out Mbappe’s character is severely flawed while seems to have the character they were looking for. The two year exit clause was at the suggestion of Flo and coincides with Benzema’s timing.
