You’ve been attacking in the same shape since he’s come. It’s not like Goretzka was standing next to Kimmich either. You attacked in a 3-1-6.

The issue is off the ball and the profiles on the ball though. With Davies he could drop back into a back 4 letting Bayern defend in a 4-4-2. Also with Davies it was Coman playing as a RW in those isolated areas and not someone meh in 1v1 situations like Gnabry.

Now Coman is playing on the left and his selfishness is a lot more annoying. He wants to cut inside when Sane is already there. The Davies injury has been such a big miss. You defend in a back 5 now with two wingers right?

Bayern should have the individual quality to win despite those weaknesses. It’s just that defending with 4 on the ball is something even Pep has given up and he’s obsessed with control. It makes Bayern too open on the counters. If he plays like this against actual big teams in the CL that will be incredibly risky.

Since Phonzie is unavailable, Nagelsmann's system has crashed. And Musiala is much weaker against the ball than Goretzka, and tactically weaker too

I cant blame Lewandowski for this penal. I think it should be considered outside the box, though initial contact may have been inside. I was OK with the run up to the kick on the first one, but I didnt like the stop -start on this one. Though not as bad as some he has taken. It dont matter none, he scored again and it is 3-0 after, like 20 minutes

Oh well, see if maybe Inter can shock Liverpool.

Similar, but even more attacking. Basically same as Flick, only moving a player or 2 from the back to the front. 3-2-4-1, sometimes 2-2-5-1, instead of 4-2-3-1.

And I must say that I have strong, strong dislike of 3 man defenses. I find them undignified. I detest them.
Great teams don't play with 3/5 man defenses. Great teams use fullbacks, not wingbacks, and have a midfielder or attacker more,

But at least Nagelsmann doesn't really use wingbacks to go along with his 3 man defense, but simply wide attackers. It's pretty wild.
But his discard of midfield possession gets very much on my nerves. It's great football when we win though.

Yeah, it's feast or famine. Very little you can do if it doesn't work...

Flick was more of a basic 4-2-3-1 with his wingers moving in centrally and Pavard being a bit more reserved in his positioning.

Naglesmann builds up in a 3-1 shape then he has like 6 players up front with Goretzka being slightly deeper. So it's like a 3-2-4-1/3-1-5-1. If Bayern plays against a team playing with one striker, Pavard will move up higher closer to Kimmich than to Upamecano.
