Italy weren't at their best. But you gotta give credit to Austria, they performed better than expected.

this also sends a message that de-merits italians where they are vulnerable as they progress ... a lot more others would look into this

they did i admit they displayed more than i had expected but i still think italians made this life more difficult by themselves ... like u have open plays ... berardi and insigne tries all stupid elaborate spins and moves when u need to be more straightforward ...

Austria let italians advance far in their territory than block them with clutch defensive efforts. So Italia just wasted stamina in the second half it's pretty much all they did. Hinteregger has been a pillar today.

The pathetic shot attempts by Insigne and Berardi around 75th minute just a highlight of their desperation. Chiesa + Belotti can make difference but they have been off beat so far, poor runs etc

Locatelli should be starting ahead of Verratti. He plays with personality while keeping it simple. Two touches, receives on the far foot, looks for the vertical pass, has range in his distribution, and is better at moving into higher spaces. Unlike Verratti who was too busy foul fishing by acting like a fidget spinner right next to Jorginho.

Chiesa needs to be starting. He's better on the right because Italy has Di Lorenzo playing as a RCB in possession so the RW needs to hold width. Berrardi is more focused on cutting in and shooting. It ends up congesting the middle especially against parked buses.
