Re: Euro 2020 - SF : Spain - Italy
Never liked Italy since they always played defensive boring football not to mention all the dirty fouls and play acting But nowadays they've changed and improved a lot it seems, so normally I would support Spain, but since they are so far past it now with no players that I like anymore bar Alba and a bit Busquets I think I wouldnt mind at all Italy go to the final.
Rooting for England though to win it

France vs Italy > Spain vs Italy.
Hell, France vs Spain > Italy vs Spain. more history and dramatic games tbh.

ok , I 'll change better the title
Anyway I can't explain it, but Italians and Spanishs are ppl very close each other , we are much more similar to Spanish ( also from a linguistic point of view, no other language is closer to Italian than Spanish ) in strengths and weaknesses
Churchill definied us the soft belly of the Mediterranean....

I can assure that for an Italian the biggest rivalry is against France. Without doubts.
Italians feel much rivalry vs France
I think sometimes it's not paid in the same way in France ( or am I wrong?) but yes, it's so here
of course I was not talking about rivalry
anyway Mediterranean derby, that's enough
Recently it meant some relevant matches, as that tragic final 2012 lost in dastardly way

Re: Euro 2020 - SF : Spain - Italy
It depends on who you talk to.
People from our generation definitely consider Italy as the main rival (1998, 2000, 2006 all close games that came down to the wire)
For older folks, it's Germany...for obvious reasons.

I don't know who'll win because I think the game will be closer than it seems. I'll support Italy, Spain's playstyle bores me to death.

I get where robes is coming from. France is really a hybrid country, with both northern and Mediterranean parts , whereas Italy and Spain are entirely of Mediterranean culture.

Losing Spinazzola is huge.
Italy basically is 25% less effective without him in the team. Insigne cannot play the same way, and Emerson hasn't played professional football for the entire year.

Re: Euro 2020 - SF : Spain - Italy
This has to be the most consistent Euro tie that happens by a mile.
2008: Spain beat Italy on penalties.
2012: 1-1 draw in the group stage between Italy and Spain.
Spain go on to beat Prandelli's Italia 4-0 in the final
2016: Conte's Italia absolutely destroy Spain and convincingly 2-0
2021: Spain v Italy semi-final

I believe the winner in this tie is winning the competition IMO.
Italy looks like the most convincing out of everyone. Spain are still good but not as good however they seem to be quite resilient and have some luck going in there favour also.

yes, too ,
and I think Italians and Spainish are closer each other as lifestyle compared with others
I felt it even when I had met Spanish Erasmus students but probably even a Germanr or English can have same vision

Yes, similar here.
but rivalry against France makes sense. Your neighbours and high competition on very sides (wine etc)
Rivalry against Spain is not completely developed imo, on the other hand before 2008 you could remember just USA94 match ( Baggio, Tassotti, Luis Enrique = key words) ..
After that 2008 decided on penalty kick , the 2012 final, the 2016 match etc
And now this. It'll increase

Italy want revenge for 2012 and for Spain signing Christopher Columbus on a free depriving them of the riches Spain cruelly took.
This will be a classic

Re: Euro 2020 - SF : Spain - Italy
As much as I want to say there is no clear rivalry v Italy for us as we simply cannot compare beyond our one golden generation and then only beating Italy convincingly, once and that was in the 2012 final. Never else has it happened as if anything its been the opposite.
Italy v France is a genuine rivalry be it historically and just more to it then one that is recent.
Spaniards generally favour Italians more than we do the French too so there's that. They are the closest to our culture by a good distance beyond maybe the north.

Re: Euro 2020 - SF : Spain - Italy
i abstain .... from this. I hate Spain's ability to play possession football and against italians at times they throw them off balance...
i hope this time its different but i never discount Spain.
Even uncle Busquets comes good when it matters

I dont live in Spain and have not for a good bit but I do miss it and the Mediterranean is just the perfect blend of sun on your face, soil in your hands and earthly pleasures I have yet to accustom to yet especially in my stints in living in Asia.
