+1, double burger with cheese Thumbs up

I was feeling the beats; what did you guys think about them?

^ I was really feeling this track. I'm not going to decide on a favorite track yet (Double Burger with Cheese was brilliant), I've only listened to the mixtape twice (last night while playing Fifa). If I recall correctly, I was feeling most if not all the tracks. It's pretty well known that I like music with substance; Lupe did not disappoint me with "Friend of the People". I plan on throwing the tape again soon, maybe I can do a breakdown of each song.

The beats were hit or miss for me but I generally liked most of them. Lightwork, DBwC, SLR, Lupe Back, Joaquian Phoenix, etc. Some may not like the dubstep/techno style of the production, but you can't dispute his lyricism. That said the album was pretty good, not great but I liked it. Definitely much better than that disaster Lasers. It's probably a 4/5 for me. Favorite tracks are Double Burger with Cheese, Lupe Back, SNDCLSH in Vegas, SLR, Lightwork, JP, The End of the World. Friend of the people the track is also good, as well as WWJD. It's a good album.

Annoying hook, but the verses make up for it.

Black Hippy are going to take over. And it's good to see the L.A. rap scene coming back. Kendrick Lamar headlining it.

How do you guys rate B.O.B?

Is it worth checking out more of his work.

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Baton Rouge rapper Lil Boosie arrived at district court Tuesday morning for a pre-trial motion and ended up pleading guilty to drug charges.

Lil Boosie, whose real name is Torrence Hatch, pled guilty to three counts of conspiring to bring drugs into a penal institution. Judge Mike Erwin sentenced him to eight years in prison.

Investigators said he tried to smuggle drugs into Dixon Correctional Center once and into Angola State Penitentiary twice.

After the judge announced the sentencing, Lil Boosie requested drug rehab. Erwin said he would recommend it but could not order it.

Supporters for the rapper were seen hanging their heads low once the judge made that statement.

On another note, he walked into the courtroom wearing an expensive pair of Addidas tennis shoes, instead of prison-issued sneakers.

There were about 12 deputies with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office surrounding Lil Boosie while he was in court.

Lil Boosie is also charged with first-degree murder in the death of Terry Boyd.

Boosie Booz is never gettin' out. Damn

The Official Rap Thread part 1 - Page 29 Empty Re: The Official Rap Thread part 1

Post by Guest Wed Nov 30, 2011 8:44 am

I was listening to "A Gangsta and a Gentlemen" earlier tonight and I was really taken back. This album came out when I was in 10th grade, I believe it was the summer before entering 10th grade. I was very uneducated and didn't understand a lot of the lingo, e.g., dutch, haze and hammer. It's quite similar to watching a movie when you're too young to grasp everything; after going back and checking out the album (didn't listen to all of it), I can say with confidence that Styles is the hardest out. Where do you rank that album among the rest of his releases?

I think Styles always appealed to me because he tends to keep it real and you can feel his heart and soul on the track. I can't always listen to Eminem because he can be too violent and over the top; I think Styles has a done a great job of balancing out the violence with emotion (hope I'm explaining that properly).

(Probably my favorite track from the album)
