Re: The Official Rap Thread part 1
Jada is the only one that list that should be claiming such things, just my opinion. I think 50 could have been one of my favorites, unfortunately he had bigger plans and his music suffered (Not as much money in making music).

How do you split Jada and Styles? Who is better than who in certain aspects and such?
On 50, his music before "GRODT" was great as was that album, but yeah, you've pretty much summed it up.

^^ Crazy production on that last track, back when Swizz Beatz was on top of his game.
EDIT: Just noticed it's an incomplete version. Couldn't find a full length on youtube, so I might upload one later.

Re: The Official Rap Thread part 1
That's a tough one, the old me probably rated Styles over Jada. That being said, let me see what I can come up with on the fly (Got to get to bed soon)
Me and my friend were actually discussing how we thought Styles was falling off a bit. I'll be waiting for his next tape to drop and see how I feel about it.
I know Styles is more than just the hardest out, e.g. he's a great story teller when he wants to be. Ghost in the Machine had some great examples of that aspect of his game. I'd also give the emotional element to Styles, he has quite a few of deep songs.
When it comes to Jada immediately think of flow, he's capable of just going off and throwing quality bars at you. Tough metaphors, punchlines, he's witty and he brings great energy.
That's all for right now, I will try to take the time and listen to a bunch of work from both artists and see if I can come up with anything else. Also possibly give a more accurate description of both.

I've read a lot of conflicting views on DMX. How do you rate him compared to some of the greats?

DMX is so fantastic, legend, the energy he brings to the table has never been recaptured.
I think top 10's are idiotic, because it's just what you think right now and you are bound to always forget someone, like Rakim for example ( yes I know I posted a top 10 earlier in this thread, and I already disagree with it lool )

That's precisely what I've said from the beginning about top 5 / 10 lists. I can never settle on a concrete list because my views change over time. Artists I consider vastly underrated also play a part too.
I much prefer to discuss a group of artists as being at the top tier, but don't ask me to rank them individually. Giving ranking to albums (like Nas above) I find much easier to do.

btw, I don't HATE Watch The Throne, but don't really like it either, I'm indifferent at it atm but it's growing on me
