What didn't you like about it?
It's just...Ye trying to sing ... Jay with his usual cocky lines, the beats get annoying, they change randomly ... I didn't like it. I'm sure someone might appreciate it's...originality? But I for one didn't .

Re: The Official Rap Thread part 1
Personally, I thought "Untitled" was an excellent album. He experimented with "Distant Relatives", but I think it was a success.
I think "Hip Hop Is Dead" was his weakest album post-2001. If you want to make it count, you could say that "The Lost Tapes" was another excellent release.
Anyway, have you heard his latest material? It wouldn't surprise me if his next album is up there with "Stillmatic", if not better.

So how do you rate albums like "God's Son" and "Street's Disciple"?
I think the latter would have been better had it been limited to one CD, but I think it was still a solid effort.

Re: The Official Rap Thread part 1
I think it had some great tracks and was still a nice album, but compared to others in the decade I put it the lowest.ali8775 wrote:I know HHID got mixed reviews and people either HATE it or LOVE it, I'm the love xD
^^ This had to be one of the most anticipated tracks in history lol. I really don't think they could have lived up to the hype, no matter how good it was.

I think Pusha is the better of the two brothers, though they have different styles. I see more of myself in Malice as a personality, but I feel Pusha has that extra wit and cleverness about him.
It's about time he gets his run as a solo artist, especially after all the label drama he's been through over the years.

My ranking:
1. Illmatic
2. It Was Written
3. Stillmatic
4. I Am...
5. Untitled
6. God's Son
7. Street's Disciple (could have been higher had it been shortened to a single CD)
8. Hip Hop Is Dead
9. Nastradamus
I won't count his compilation albums or releases with The Firm etc.

It seems universal that Pac, Biggie, Jay-Z and Nas make up the top 4. The 5th is always up for contention (Jadakiss, Game, 50 etc. have all claimed it).
Big L is certainly up there though. His wordplay and punchline abilities were perhaps unmatched.

Re: The Official Rap Thread part 1
Jada is the only one that list that should be claiming such things, just my opinion. I think 50 could have been one of my favorites, unfortunately he had bigger plans and his music suffered (Not as much money in making music).
