who were those ones praising Lampard, and when?
what about him so far screams tactically astute to you?

I don't know how much knowledge people on here had of Lampard as a tactician, prior to him becoming Chelsea's manager. I would assume they had none, considering it's his first job as a top flight manager, and I don't suppose anyone on here watched him at Derby County. I remember someone on here saying they always knew he would be a great manager.
Regardless of how much insight people on here have about his managerial proficiency or current capability, he certainly seemed like an instant GL favorite, together with Arteta. Read through any of the Lampard/Arteta discussions from when they had just become managers of Chelsea and Arsenal, respectively, and you'd think they were destined for greatness already. As it always is with GL, things are more interesting when you go fucking all in and declare stuff to be either GOAT or extremely incompetent

Re: 2020/21 Premier League Discussion
To be fair to Lampard, he was looking at a pretty bleak season following Hazard's departure. Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham performed well above expectations, and that solved a lot of those issues. I don't know how much Lampard had to do with it, but it patched up what looked like it could've been a pretty underwhelming season. In contrast, he's got a lot of talent at his disposal now. There's no pre-season this year, so it might seem like it takes longer than usual to integrate new players and find the optimal lineup/formations.

some might find this interesting.
tbh my opinion of how you beat Liverpool is sit in a fiercely organised defensive shape, and outrun their midfield with accurate passes when you get the ball that will have their defenders running backwards. Of course you have to outscore them too eventually, but in terms of the blueprint the former is what you do.
From what i can recollect, the Watford and Atletico wins over them were most telling to me in that way.

The game has lost its mind.
VAR + the evolution of what handling is has honestly taken a huge huge hit to the game of football.
Singlehandedly ruining football. Honest. It's a joke

Re: 2020/21 Premier League Discussion
It's difficult to watch these matches knowing every touch of the hand, intentional or not, will be looked at, and teams will be fucked based on if the ball just happened to deflect onto an arm or hand.
I'm changing my team strategy if I'm an EPL manager. Get to the box and smash it into anyone's hand. If it happens to be outstretched at all, they'll be fucked. Pen for us.

That's why you go for the kill. You do or die. 1 - 0 is never a good result unless you do your best.

Obviously. But I'm talking in general here. It doesn't matter if it's 4-1 and the 1 is from some bullshit handling. It needs to go. This is 10x worse than diving ever was/is
