I’ll always prefer the Champions League over La Liga, but realistically, we should aim for what’s more achievable.

Agreed, Thimmy. The CL is always special, but we should try and secure what's within our grasp first before reaching for the stars.

It's a shame though because City are nothing special. If we had a reliable goalscorer I would be pretty confident of beating them. But as things stand, the odds are in their court.

Preseason terrible

Early season slightly better, Zidane insists on same lineup as last year plus Hazard and tries to get this aging lineup back to form.

He does have some success with some of the vets, esp. Benz playing some of his best futbol ever. Slow improvement in general.

Mainly because of injuries, he starts incorporating Mendy, Militao, Valverde, Vinicius and Rodrygo and team is on a high. They takeover liga, but debatable, at least IMO whether it’s because they are playing better or was it because of how bad both Barca and Atleti were playing.

Next Old Benz returns, Bale flopping again and the rest of forwards just inconsistent, they have probably hit the form that was suspected, at least from some of us, at beginning of season.

This next 2 or 3 weeks are now critical. They can end up being out of all competitions in March!

Given how horrible Man City defense is, and the fact that Guardiola makes it even worse by playinga high line...

IF i was Zidane, I'd play Benz and Bale up front.

Benz being his usual DMZema self and dropping deeper, possibly taking a Man City defender with him...

And all Bale has to do the entire game.... is making Diagonal runs behind the City Lines... and Kroos, Isco or Benz must constantly give him through balls... or a lob by Ramos from the back.


Bale is by far the fastest player and isn't a terrible finisher either...


That's what i would do.

Laporte returned to action recently. They’re not as defensively incompetent as they’ve been since he got injured. To me, they’ve looked like a team that’s been lacking in overall drive and motivation lately, but I suppose there should be some degree of incentive in this possibly being their last opportunity to win the Champions League for a while.

Still think Madrid could take them with or without Hazard.

I do too. The only thing worrying me is the fact that our attack is inconsistent. Sometimes they look like a high-flying well-oiled machine, sometimes they look like a bunch of amateurs who can't hit the broad side of a barn to save their lives. And you never know which one you're getting.

City are nothing special. They don't scare me in the slightest. But if we lose, it'll be because of our attack.
