Reports that his recovery is not progressing well and he may go in for surgery again. The injury is as bad as initially feared.

Re: Ansu Fati
Hes expected to be back in april, no reason to rush since we have no prospect of winning anything this season anyway.

I think he is out for the season. He will probably get operated again and wont be fit till next season. Knee injuries are the worst.

Re: Ansu Fati
This boy is the real deal. Absolutely the right attitude you want as a forward.
No fear of anyone, great mentality and doesnt waste time in front of goal.
I believe in this day and age he will come back fine if not rushed and given time.

His injury record won't hold him back? Seems like a big risk

Re: Ansu Fati
He has high potential. Talent-wise he is better than Rashford and more clinical...but I think he will be like another Dembele whom you cant count on for the whole season....

I am not concerned. One knee injury isnt a pattern. We have to wait and see I guess but I see no reason to be pessimistic.
Better than Rashford?
Well, not today. But in the future, easily. Mostly because Rashford has stopped developing properly and thinks he is the Manchester version of Neymar.

Good to know that you think injury isnt a concern. I am still worried as knee injuries have crippled careers. Umtiti being the prime example.
What makes me optimistic though is that Fati's game isnt based on pace or explosiveness. Its all intelligence, elite finishing and smart takeons.

Re: Ansu Fati
thats true. Though i believe Umtiti had cartilage removed for a swifter recovery. This is well known to come with terrible impact down the road and has shortened primes of players careers in so many sports.
If I remember correctly, Fati didnt get that removal and opted for stitching the torn cartilage back together which results in a much longer recovery time but much less chance of setbacks and long term damage. I am basing this off memory though so Id have to check on that.

Re: Ansu Fati
How does having a cartilage (is it one of many Im guessing?) affect a player? All I know is Umtiti has looked consistently rash and mistake prone for a long long time now, and never been able to regain his best.
Apologies for the many questions already Dani

I copied this from a site rather than try and explain it in my own words.
Knee Arthroscopy -
This is a commonly performed procedure to repair a tear, trim and remove the torn and loose pieces in the joint, or remove the entire meniscus.
Meniscus repair is a delicate surgery that sutures the tear and anchors the meniscus in place. Recovery from this procedure is longer than in a meniscectomy. Often a meniscus tear occurs with an injury to the ACL ligament. In this case, the surgery will repair the ligament and the meniscus.
A meniscectomy is an arthroscopic procedure that removes the meniscus or trims the damaged meniscus tissue (also called a debridement). Removal of the entire meniscus is called a total meniscectomy. Removal of damaged parts is called a partial meniscectomy.
From what I understand, Umtiti had the meniscectomy and Fati had the repair.
The meniscectomy from everything I have ever seen is worse. You will remover faster, but it seems always cause problems down the road and I think that is what is happening or has happened with Umtiti.
Fati didnt go through this because he had no reason to rush returning as Umtiti had to so he could play in the World Cup.

Re: Ansu Fati
Thanks for the great detail... makes me a bit weak sometimes reading these stuff dunno why lol... and makes one realise some of the difficult things pros need to go through, feel for Umtiti. He really was a beast, and prolly the major reason why Mascherano left. Who would have thought he would turn out to be this unreliable on the pitch nowadays... hope all the players we like stay injury free, at least major ones anyway, and that we get to see them at their best potential.

Re: Ansu Fati
Now officially concerned.
The suturing of the meniscus has failed. I dont know if he is very unlucky or who to blame but usually we are talking about 90% success rate in repairing of the meniscus and for it to fail, is a big shame.
I cant make sense of the exact truth, it has been suggested it has failed twice but I dont remember any news about the 2nd attempt.
Regardless it seems he will now have the tear removed via meniscectomy which is to me very bad news.
As that part of the Meniscus has been removed, the chances of arthritic conditions on the knee increases as time goes by.

Re: Ansu Fati
Thats a huge load to carry, but he seems to have the personality for it, brave to play the way he has at such young age, but still... I thought Barca should have shown more respect though and suspend this number for this season...

With full squads, they have to use all numbers between 1 and 25.

Yep.
And its silly to retire a number anyway, someones gotta use it eventually and either way its not what Messi would've wanted for sure

Napoli did it too for Maradona if I am not wrong...but I see no sense in doing so.
