History would refer to these actions as that not of a Democratic Republic, but of a Dictatorship.

He also evoked the 2nd Amendment (for some stupid reason) in this speech. It was created to protect the people FROM the government, not for the government's use against it's own people.

The President refused to invoke the Defense Production Act to mobilize and save lives quickly against COVID-19.

But he didn't hesitate to invoke the 1807 Insurrection Act to deploy the military on American streets against protests.

Invoking the 1807 Insurrection Act requires that the States request it. To do so without permission from the Governor of a state is unconstitutional. It would signal a dictatorial action.

Hillary had a fatal fault, she is/was a corporate marionette mummy with no perspectives or reforms offered. All she had going for her was how awful Trump was supported by the one sided Trump bashing by the dem controlled media.
Any half decent democrat addressing the people and offering perspectives/active politics for a change would win against Trump. The media would have to come out of it arse and to stop bashing everything out of context. Both won't happen so Trump will be elected again. A sad day for the USA.

He really shouldn't get re-elected, but I'm not sure how these protests & riots are going to affect his popularity. It seems to be mostly very young people doing the looting and vandalism and if Trump acts tough on that, that might sway some middle-age and older voters towards him.

So far Trump's done jack shit, though.

50 million people voted for him last time. Is he losing supporters with his actions? Thats what I keep wondering. Skeptical about it tbh. I really don't see people who did not like Hilary for being representative of the establishment being thrilled with Joe Biden.

It's quite remarkable. One candidate here said that the consitution is more important than human lives and she lost pretty much more than 50% of her voters with that even though she backtracked later. She even had to be replaced by another candidate who btw I will be voting for

Trump says that pretty much everyday + much worse and his electorate doesnt seem to even bat an eye

The truly scary thought is that the version of Trump that we know is one that moderates himself because there's an election coming up. When/If he wins that election (and today he remains the favorite for that), we will get True Trump and it will be much worse.

Again, I really have to disagree with this.

Trump should be out of office now for his actions, in my opinion, and he's certainly stretched the limits to what he can do on multiple occasions.

With that being said, even during the height of the Coronavirus, he deferred to others in his office and he deferred to governors and senators. I think we should watch this space, but even now, he's not going to overrule (unconstitutionally) governors and senators and sent military into states who haven't authorized it. That would be dictatorial action, but he won't.

I'm not being an apologist for Trump here when referring to the ways that he has abused his office. However, it's pretty clear to me that Trump is institutionally under control even despite what is, right now (when you combine civil unrest with coronavirus), the height of what you could call the 2020 American crisis.

By November things will have died down a bit from where we are now. I don't have any reservations about Trump willingly leaving. And I think if he didn't, he would be kicked out in an utterly embarrassing fashion.

What I do think is scary is what BC said. Four more years of a Trump who feels that the country has approved of his actions and given him a mandate to act the way he has for four more years, or perhaps even less restrained
