I do agree with the sentiment though. Obviously I am biased as I speak the language, was raised in the culture..ec, but Japanese films are consistently in my experience better works of art.

I can be fair though. Like I can say Korean women look better, on average, than Japanese women. Thats a fair statement. I also think they produce better individual performers. Like even in Music I mean Lena Park, Sohyang...no contest in vocal skills they shit on us.

In that same vein I have never seen a Korean movie compare to the likes of Tokyo Story. I mean this is good though. We all contribute our best to humanity.

No satire, dead serious. I'm such a huge fan of Japanese cinema.
So much great stuff, over so many decades.
Ozu, Mizoguchi. All time greats. Ugetsu Monogatari might be among the most beautiful fims I've seen.
Skip a few decades, Takashi Miike's remake of Graveyard of Honour, holy fuck what a movie.
Saw Eureka, a 3 hour black and white film about a bunch of kids, in an open air cinema in Berlin now almost 20 years ago. What a fucking movie.
I then went to see the next film of that director at the Berlinale film festival, it was called "Yokohama Mike: A Forest With No Name", never heard of it since, never made it into world wide release, what a movie.
Takeshi Kitano's Dolls, I've still got the happy hardcore dance tune as an earworm from time to time, "Ma-me-mi-mo-me-mu, Ma-me-mi-mo-me-mu, Ma-me-mi-mo-magicaal beeeaaam"

There's this ghost film by Kiyoshi Kurosowa, called Kairo. Man, what a film. I saw this black and white Samurai movie from 1969 or so, last year or the year before in a cinema near my place, unbelievable stuff, a slo-mo action total destruction and madness end sequence that surely gave Peckinpah and Tarantino a boner, and the inspiration for all their stuff. Forgot the title though ffs.

Shopliffters won in Cannes the year before Parasite did, I haven't seen it, haven't even heard only good stuff about it, but I'm 100% sure it's much better than Parasite without having watched it. Japanese cinema is quality.

but the thing is american korean and british films are all foreign films in denmark so they are all the same. in english speaking countries american and british films will always be more popular. this debate reminds me of classical music. lots of people say they like it but do they really like it or do they think its cool to say they like it. lots of dumb fucks listen to rap music but only cultured people listen to classical music. it sounds silly but lots of people are like that.

im i the only one that thinks japanese porn takes things a bit far though. we all like a bit of porn but they just take things too far tbh.

I wonder what caused more interference in our elections, Russia actual activity in the election or the 4+ years circus talking about it? I am definitely going with the later, letting Russia infest their way into our conversations on a daily basis has given them much more power and influence in our politics. If Trump wins his 2nd term, you cannot deny that 4 years wasting time talking about Russia didn't help.

Russia do not have mind control power, but their power is only if you allow them and give them much credit.

We would have been much better if we never talked about Russia.

Parasite stood on the shoulders of previous movies though. The continuation of robbing South Korea was egregious. Nominating Kapernaum and Werk Ohne Autor over Burning last year was so dumb.

He is loved all over the USA tbh

No argument there, I can't really disagree with either one of you about his shortcomings as president and even as a human being.

I was just commenting on how his behavior is unbefitting of a president. He is always on Twitter saying the most ridiculous and undiplomatic things without even thinking about the possibility that the rest of the world might be laughing their asses off and making fun of him for saying such things.

There is nothing wrong with using Twitter to be honest as politicians. It's becoming very popular.

Hell even today, Biden and Bernie (well the PR teams behind their accounts) are taking jibes at each other, quoting each other and talking.

Few months ago, Erdogan and Netanyahu were directly throwing insults at each other on Twitter, was pretty funny.

Most boring Twitter account gotta be Kremlin's though. only PR statements. So disappointing for the so-called owners of the bot factory

Then I'm sorry, but you'd be hard pressed to vote for ANYONE in US elections. Bush, Clinton, Obama, Biden, etc all have done really really inhumane things.

I don't care if they are amazing orators and can hide behind a diplomatic public face unlike Trump, (Biden amazing orator LOL) .... but I see what they do and have contributed to. Trump is no worse than any of them.
