Re: La Liga 19/20 - The new Era
I'm not watching the match between Barcelona and Valencia, but the goal notifier on my phone briefly flashed past the corner of the screen, and I could've sworn it said some guy named Assman scored after 2 minutes. Poor Valencia
edit: His name is Anssumane Fati, apparently. Never heard of him. Valencia must be going through a rut.

No idea but his flavour of the month is wingers who have that explosiveness about them. Like Dembele but, you know, smarter.
I like explosive wingers too. However, Odegaard is a #10 who has been playing as a RW or CM. He has the technique to go past his man and the workrate to play in the middle.
His ideal position is behind the CF, but there aren't many 10s who actually play that role anymore. They've mostly been converted to CM's or wingers. Odegaard has too and he's done a great job. I don't understand his doubts tbh.

Ødegaard with another crucial performance for La Real. Having watched all matches this season for Donostia it is evident he has been their best player and only lacks presence through the whole game. We may not see him reach his potential as many of his ilk do not through bad agent decisions and weak mentality but his talent is undoubtable.

Re: La Liga 19/20 - The new Era
I am failing to see how he is given his right is a ready part of his arsenal.
Since I am obsessed with two-footedness in players I have noticed two differences.
One player that is genuinely one-footed and cannot use his opposite foot to save his life even if he knows the defender has his number.
And then one who CAN use his opposite but simply has a preferred foot (all ambidextrous players do) and does not possess the insight to use the other one in specific situations and or wants to optimise by using what is used more.
Ødegaard is the latter.

Re: La Liga 19/20 - The new Era
Being one-footed is not really a deal-breaker, Nick. He can still succeed.
I'm not entirely sure, but wasn't Robben one-footed as well? Ozil too if I remember correctly. Heck, even Di Maria played like a god at LCM for us and he was one-footed too.
Odegaard is talented, but I agree with Arq, he shouldn't have picked Madrid at such a young age. That was a bad decision from his father/agent.

Re: La Liga 19/20 - The new Era
He may not be completely ambidextrous or two-footed, but he's certainly not "one-footed". I've seen him score from outside the 16-yard box with his weak foot in training with the national team, and I wouldn't be surprised if he scored with his right foot in the Netherlands, as well. Didn't someone in the Real Madrid section claim that Jovic was too one-footed, as well? I don't know where people pick up these things, but Jovic is apparently ambidextrous according to former coaches and team mates of his.

Nick has to be trolling. I feel like he knows he was wrong about Odegaard and is now reaching.
Most left-footed players are one-footed. That isn't anything new and plenty of them made it to the top like that.

Robben doesn't seem to have much of a right foot, at all. You reminded me of this video that was linked to me by a friend who's part of the Youtube channel.

Re: La Liga 19/20 - The new Era
i had that thought about his one footed ness when he missed his second chance to score. On the first when he receives the ball from the left side of the pitch, a right footed player would have just pivot his body to shoot, but Odegaard had to make a extra dribble to arm his shot.
He got an opportunity in the same situation with a ball coming from the right, and if he was a rightie, it was an automatic shot and most likely goal. But again, he had to turn and pivot but this time he was blocked.
i just thought of Eriksen of De Bruyne in that situation and they would have unbelted a shot in both those situations easily without having to set themselves up on their left foot.

Re: La Liga 19/20 - The new Era
Nick Eriksen and De Bruyne are ambidextrous period, as is Kroos as you may relate to.
Ødegaard is not completely but has a very potent right foot nonetheless.
Ambidexterity comes down to how well you can use the opposite foot if you had to take for example, a shot. Not how often you do so, and Cristiano is an example given the shots and passes he has made with his left when he does use them, does not make one doubt anything on his ability to use either from his pair of feet.
Ødegaard is in a similar mould. Plus lacks experience to do what you expected in that example, above.

Re: La Liga 19/20 - The new Era
I am hoping Real Madrid don't take away Ødegaard due to his form and for themselves this or next season as him developing at la Real and under Alguacil is the best thing for him given he still is very raw, despite my praise for him.
And I hope he himself does not push for one if he has learned anything from a move too early to Real Madrid.

I am not ready for a season of Navas and Ocampos crossing it into defenders' shins.
This Sevilla team desperately needs more penetration.

Another meh performance where Sevilla just sat on their lead after 60 minutes.
I guess that's the pragmatic thing to do when the attack sucks but it's hardly entertaining viewing.
Baffling that Munir is sat on the bench while De Jong shambles about.

Don't worry, De Jong is gonna look like Bergkamp against Madrid.

Well there's still the loophole if it's not yellow foul, even if it results in a fake goal, it isn't reviewed, and thus refs can still corrupt the game.
