My sister got me watching it last autumn and the first season was really good, but then at some point it got too complex and big, imo. Felt like the writers' solution to keep suspense going was to just add more shit for the sake of it.

There is no way this is any good, sorry
I'll give it a try at some point but I know that it will be terrible
It's ok for you guys because you wouldn't be able to tell the difference

It's a 100% show, theres no way for it to be terrible lol
And it sounds lovely in German. I do get where you're coming though Hans, I also dislike Netflix's movies/series in Polish for some reason

Re: Dark || Netflix
I personally know some Germans, and seen others on the internet say that the dialogue is bad. At least they say its really cheesy. But they all agree on the plot being really good and the show being great overall. Same as how majority loves Wagner Moura in Narcos but Spanish speakers can clearly hear his Brazilian accent. But all agree that his acting was good.

Re: Dark || Netflix
understand what Hap means, I don't rate /watch Italian series too ( watched just one in my life) but Dark has international status. It 's deserved.
You should forget it's German and focusing on this product. And you'll love it Laughing
About complexity of series, it's ok for first season, it becomes a bit chaotic from 3th-8th episode of 2nd season.
Anyway it's enough to rewatch it... and I 've resolved some clouds.
3rd season begun today.
I could watch it since morning but I've waited for the night so as to get a better atmosphere. Proper of the event.
Watched first two episodes of this 3rd and last season. I'm going to go on tomorrow.
Who others did it ?

Re: Dark || Netflix
Today we have presidential elections and I'm not in the right frame of mind. I'm waiting for the right moment because when I've watched it, I know I will be very sad that it's finished

Re: Dark || Netflix
FFS I' had just an epiphany after the first 2 episodes of the 3th season , I wonder if I'll be right.
- Spoiler:
Martha from the parallel world says to Jonas " I'll help you to find the origin of everything"
At the end of the first episode, the old Martha from future appears him says to Jonas "This is the world without you, as you wanted it. Yet even this world will fall apart. Because of you And because of me. "
What I think : Jonas is actually Adam, the first man on earth.
in the Bible their union (the union between Adam and Eve) takes to the original sin, and it condemns forever humanity to a difficult existence.
It'd explain Martha's sentence, when she says that the world falls apart because of them.
Moreover The love between Jonas and Martha represents something of impure in the series ( it'd be her aunt on paper)
Another detail that perked on my ideas . I verified it and it was indeed so.
on 2nd episodes we 've again those 3 persons ( of different age, it could be same person in 3 different phases of his life, infancy , major age, old age) that strangle , start the fire etc
I noticed that... before the man strangles the head of the nuclear power plant (that man sit in a wheelchair ) ... the child ? the origin ? .. what does ? He eats an APPLE.
The movie director even focuses on the basket of apples before the scenes changes.
The apple, the forbidden fruit of Adam. The original sin. So the child / man / old man etc could be Adam. Jonas.

About 3X5 episode :
on Dark nothing is really left to chance , incredible show confirmed
About 3X5 episode :
- Spoiler:
- 3X5
We ' re on the temporal line of the 1953.
Katharina has a plan for breaking out Ulrich from psychiatric ward. (it won't work ... because you can't change your past, we've seen other cases who show the bootstrap paradox on Dark..)
Katharina's mother works in that structure.
Katharina follows her so as to steal the key card. The women quarrell each other and at the end her mother kills Katharina
The mother buries her body in the lake.
We have to go behind at 2X6 now.
On that episode, the group play on the lake. Magnus tells the story of a woman died in the lake to Martha that goes away after it.
That story was true. Nothing was random.
That woman was Katharina (her mother) . Killed in 1953.
It doesn't finish here. After it, Katharina goes on a beach. There is Jonas. They speak each other and Martha finds a medal when she rummages on the sand. It is the San Cristoforo's medal. The patron saint of travellers. Exactly her mother's medal who had in 1953 during that murder.
And she was reading Ariadne.. that book will return often in this 3rd season.

Re: Dark || Netflix
Watching this show is an exercise in perpetual confusion
Does anyone actually try to make sense of this or are you just along for the ride?

Re: Dark || Netflix
Finished S3. This might be an unpopular opinion here but I didn't enjoy it. Finishing it felt more of a chore than a desire to see what happened next. I stopped caring about the characters and rolled my eyes at every new 'twist'. Some details were neat but I felt like it just got too confusing which characters are who and I just couldn't keep up with characters archs or motivations. Kinda reminded me of Westworld.

Re: Dark || Netflix
Oh my, took me over 3 months to finally get round to it. The finale was bittersweet although I see it as the best ending all things considered.
SPOILER: So glad Tannhaus actually achieved what he set out initially even though unknowingly and in a very sick, twisted way.
Last 20 minutes were just epic.
Agreed however that often times season 3 felt more like a chore with too many important characters to keep track of but the ending makes it worth it and the rollercoaster of emotions with Ulrich, Katharina etc etc. Basically all of the archs were epic af and goddamn Hannah, so fertile
best netflix original by far imo, especially the casting and writing ffs amazing how the loops are so perfect and detailed

Re: Dark || Netflix
Began Dark 2 weeks ago and on Episode 4 now. Why I began it is because Ive been learning Deutsch for a year now and at B2-C1 level now and I was recommended Dark to immerse myself into German without shit language learning modules.
I watch without subtitles as its a small town but surprisingly all speak Hochdeutsch in it sans dialect.
More so to the point I absolutely love it so far. European shows unlike most American ones don't hold your hand in mysteries and it is a mental exercise to watch given all the characters and plot lines but very much into it by now.
Highly recommend.

Re: Dark || Netflix
I really want to but the ratings seem above average at best and since I'm only used to watching the top rated ones (I am not a snob promise) I can't see how this will work out unless it picks up. I used Dark for my german learning via listening so may use this too.

Re: Dark || Netflix
Though in fairness I heard its. main problem IS how slow it starts so it may get much better by the middle to latter.

Is it in german? From the trailer I figured it’s more kinda multinational and the guy who played grown up Jonas in dark is actually speaking english
I haven’t watched it yet but want to give it at least a try. The creators of Dark deserve as much
