Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
He writes the type of lyrics that I can imagine pupils in 100 years from now analysing in school.
"I'm so much like my father, you would think that I knew him."
Teacher: "What does the poet want to tell us?"
One of M99's grandchildren: "At first you think the song is about the poet, who grew up without a father. But then it turns into the POV of Stephen Paddock (Las Vegas shooter) who not only grew up without his father, but his father was also a criminal on the Top 10 FBI's most wanted list. "I'm so much like my father, you would think that I knew him."

Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
My friends are mostly into rap, but not me TBH... Though I like an occasional rap stint.
So we were listening some rap, and I wanted to blast some tunes and I came here to find some stuff.
I played a couple of songs from the previous page since I was reading your reviews you guys wrote, and the gayest bars and beats started coming out.
WTF

Finally listened to the entire Eminem album. Wow.
I thought Rap was dead. This is the best stuff I've listened to in years, no hyperbole.

There's still lots of pure rappers out there you probably just don't listen to them, like Nas, Black Thought, Jay Rock, Royce Da 5'9, etc etc even Kendrick Lanar and J. Cole even though they experiment more with other sounds/pop sounds but they still spit bars.

Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
Not a fan of Nas, Lamar and Royce, Jay Rock is decent, don't know Black Thought
J. Cole is pretty good I'll admit. I like him and Jay Rock but not like crazy about them.
But this Eminem album kills. I fucks with every single track on it which never happens

Same. Start to finish was great, not any track I disliked listening to all the way through.

Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
There are people better in the game but they don't bust out tunes every 4 months. Quality over quantity
I do love this video though.

I posted Snakes first (that low volume soul sample is etched into my brain forever lol), but I changed into one with a longer ODB rap part.
Also the production on this album is so unbelievably good. Absolutely unique, amazing
All that's left to point out that 90s rap actually isn't old school
back then it was the new school lmao

Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
For me it is
i was born 1994, discovered rap through Mobb Deep at like 12-13 years old, then the gangsta rap later
can't say it reminds me of the good ol days, it just sounds better
i love the 90s-early 2000s stuff mostly
