Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
I just finished listening to Kanye's Graduation again. And how good is it!!!
I definitely agree with the majority that his earlier albums were by far his best.
I believe Graduation is up there at the same level of The Eminem Show. Might even be better?

The guy might have some weird antics, I don't disagree on that. But his first 3 albums are pretty good. Have you listened to them? The Franchise wrote:

Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
His first 3 albums are timeless classics, no doubt.
The rest of this garbage he's put out, disgraceful. Along with acting like a fake 'slave, revolutionary' for profit is just embarrassing.
All an attention ploy because Jay now has an actual child with Beyonce and can't be there 24/7 to coddle his 'son'. A shameful plea for attention

Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
Of course, im old, I have heard everything he done. He was the sh!t back in those days. Heck, back then I even paid for albums and his first was one of them.
Now he made it and his ego is so big, his attitude is like, I do whatever I want and yall will like it/make a media storm out of it.
Leaving aside his antics, including wearing a skirt ...his music has gone the same way, that electronic stuff with contradicting subject matter just screams it.

Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
his ego has always been big, thats what made him who he was back then. if it wasnt for his ego he would still be producing instead of rapping aswell. his ego was the reason he started rapping despite everyone telling him he should stay as a producer.
nothing to do with attention. he has already made it clear what he wants to do in interviews if you just watch em

Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
Poppycock.
It was talent, hard work and desire for money that made him go from producer to rapper.
Everyone has ego, but clearly his has gone beyond all levels of normal. Dont need to repeat the many many examples.
He hasnt made anything clear, all he does in his interviews is shout, dodge points and contradict himself.

Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
2013. A great year for rap and hip-hop music. We saw some very dope albums and a few disappointments. K.Dot made us go crazy with his long ass verse from that track called Control. Eminem showed us that he is still on his Pharaohe Monch grind and he is the Rap God. Drake was the best rapper on the charts. Yeezy claimed one of his verses on New Slaves is the best verse of all time and we saw the stellar rise of some good rappers A$AP Rocky, Pusha T, Childish Gambino and Tyler, The Creator.
Let's go into my top 10 favourite tracks of the year 2013. Now please read carefully, this is just my favourite tracks. I'm not saying these are the 10 best rap songs of 2013. These 10 tracks have been there time and time with me through the year, some long, some not so - depending on their release dates. These tracks either made me groove because of a dope beat and dope lyrics, inspired me, maybe meant something to me or just was a good bump whenever I was feeling down.
10. SLR 2 - Lupe Fiasco
9. Rusty - Tyler, The Creator feat. Domo Genesis & Earl Sweatshirt
8. Bad Guy - Eminem
7. Tuscan Leather - Drake
6. Power Trip - J. Cole feat. Miguel
5. Villuminati - J. Cole
4. Cole Summer - J. Cole
3. Rap God - Eminem
2. Jodeci Freestyle - Drake feat. J. Cole
1. Hold My Liquor - Kanye West feat. Chief Keef & Justin Vernon
Album of the year: Nothing Was the Same (Drake)
Rapper of the year: J. Cole

Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
Dunno about best album or best rapper,
Some of this year's tracks I personally enjoyed.
Kendrick : Maad City, The Recipe, Money Trees, Compton, Poetic Justice...everything more or less.
Meek : Levels, I be on Dat (mostly because of Nicki and Fab)
HOV : Holy Grail, FckWithMeYouKnowIGotIt, Oceans
J. Cole : Power Trip, Forbidden Fruit, Land Of The Snakes
Wiz and The Weeknd ā Remember You
Em - Rap God.
A$AP : Wild for the night, Fashion Killa
Pusha T : King Push
Kayne : Blood on the leaves
Drake : Worst behavior (kinda) Its a good track, on point and he aint singing. Shame the subject matter is completely out of character and thus making it unbelievable. Pound cake I truly liked.
