Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
Except there was a point where he stopped comitting crimes and were doing charitys and donations all the time. Coming from where he is from being a criminal is ineveitable and while I don't like that mentality it's true

Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
It's definitely not inevitable. At least from timelines I've read, after doing charities he then committed several other crimes and got a bunch of charges about witness tampering. Commits a crime, says he is sorry, hampers with evidence and witnesses to escape punishment. Sounds like a top lad who was really regretful.

Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
Yeah it's not inevitable when majority of the ghetto kids become criminals later on!
These minor felonies doesn't change my opinion that he was trying to become better. Even his victim claimed he was becoming a better person and that the authorities should leave him alone.
Again, being violent is hardly a crime that justifies murder.

Minor felony? Beating your pregnant girlfriend is disgusting.
Someone that is trying to become better doesn't tamper with wittneses to avoid jail time. That's a whole more 10-20 years in prison just for that.
I didn't justify murder. Just called him scum and a criminal, which he so clearly was. No big loss for society as he seemed well underway to a life in prison.

That same girlfriend attended his vigil to pay her respects.
It's not that hard people, we don't need to celebrate a 20 year old artist getting gunned down- despite his character flaws and because of some terrible (I won't defend them) things he did, nor do we need to glorify his death like he was Jesus Christ.
He was clearly a troubled kid, clearly a talented one. Enough said.
Just post a RIP or don't, simple as
With all due respect brother @rincon, got nothing but love for you
We are not here to be the judge, jury and executioner for good reason

Nobody is celebrating him getting gunned dowm, what rincon saying is truth. Just because a person dies doesn't mean he's absolved of his sins. Nobody is glorifying his death, but painting him in a different light is the biggest lie in all of this.

Good thing we are on a forum and can post what we want. I didn't celebrate his death. Just replied to comments like "he was all about positivity". Seems legit. Or that we should ignore all this because "inevitable".
Just because someone is dead doesn't mean what they did suddenly gets erased. It's a dangerous way to think. Short memories lead to making the same mistakes, especially as this guy was a public figure.
Letting abuse and crime slide for a role model just because he died is not my style. If becoming a criminal is inevitable to a degree in the ghetto then it is also due to people like him, boasting about committing crimes and impressing the next generation with it.
He shouldn't have been shot, he should have been trialed.

All fair points to be honest. Nothing I can disagree with and I haven’t once defended his character or actions for good reason, only that his talent and youth provided hope for improvement

Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
I'm the one defending his character and I don't take it back one bit.
Coming from a troubled childhood myself, I too grew up violent and criminal. The only difference is I never beat up women. But I know myself how change feels, and once you realize the better path you quickly try to repair what you broke by healing the world and the people around you.
Real recognize real, that's all I got to say.

Lets not act like plantation Florida is the worst place on earth. There are plenty of great people, including my coworker, from there who are law-abiding hard working people.

How did you miss it? It's one of the best on the album along with BRACKETS and Window Pain.
Basically the entire end to the album was strong.

I really like the version of FRIENDS with Daniel Ceasar, makes you wonder if Cole should go back to the feature route again.

I'm a Drake Stan, the album is a masterpiece
I'm not a fan of these big projects, 25 tracks is a lot of music to take in. So I've been hovering more on Part A
Nonstop, Elevate, Emotionless, 8 out of 10 and Mob Ties stand out most on first few listens

Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
I honestly didn't care too much for it overall. Nothing from Side A really grabbed me like some tracks from Views and More Life did. Side A's tracks all sounded pretty similar and that's an issue for someone like Drake who always talks about how he's standing out.
I never really liked his singing tracks, but gave Side B a listen anyway. Didn't like most of them, as expected....especially Ratchet Happy Birthday.....WTF was that track?
The length didn't bother me too much, but I'm pretty underwhelmed. Daytona, ye, and KOD are better albums. The beef with Pusha really impacted him more than he let on I think. The bars about his kid seem pretty forced and I have to think they wouldn't be there had Push not gone there during the beef. Drake seemed perfectly content to keep that kid out of the spotlight, which I suppose is admirable, in a way.

Been listening to Scorpion on repeat. Mostly The first half.
Incredible album.
9.5/10. Would be near perfect if the last few songs were not so soft.
When he raps, there is no one better. Miles miles better than the garbage J.Cole, Kanye and Nas put out recently.

My man, it really is a great album through and through. Better than Views/More life for me. Behind NWTS/Take Care which will never be surpassed to me on nostalgia alone perhaps
