Thanks Arqi... we did it old school Italian way too lol. Reminded of Italy NT of the 80s: WC defense, good keeping, strong midfield and then lethal strikers.

Agree to disagree to which is not surprising, I rarely agree with either of you. I'm just happy Modric got it in the end.

Congratulations France for the win. Totally deserved it. Did the massive display when it was needed , hungry for the goals.

Mbappe for me the player of the tournament. Showed his potential at the Worlds finest stage. Totally enjoyed his movement , he can be much better then what he is right now.  Pogba , Modric both were superb overall throughout the tournament.

Although it was a great World Cup, no team looked like they absolutely deserved to be champions, including France. We could easily have different champions, and I don't mean just Croatia.

The final was full of soft goals. I thought the penalty was probably the correct call, but the first goal, the free-kick, such bullshit. Hate seeing a goal like that in the WC final.

Anyway, someone had to win it, congrats to France.

Kante was awful today.
Matuidi's performances this WC are underrated, he was the most important midfielder for France IMO.

Art... during the totality of the tournament, we were only behind 9 minutes total... and that was against Argentina.  No overtime games.

You guys equate possession with control.  That's just not the case.  

France never faced danger in this WC other than briefly against Argentina. You can't have more control than that.

Was really rooting for France, until that Griezman dive. Disgraceful. Croatia were robbed.
France are, antics aside, a f*cking great team, though.

Griezmann was the heart and soul of France's attack this WC. Best player for France this WC. I agree Mbappe was the best young player this WC, but some people wanting him to be awarded as the best player is laughable , he wasn't even top 3 best players for France this WC.

Lmao, Griezmann was making everything work in attack. His set pieces were also key for France. After his set pieces France took the lead in the quarters, semis and in the final. And he put France in the lead again today in the final.

Finally this golden generation of France made it.
Never doubted their quality but I did not believe they were fully ready mentaly for such a task.

A big applause for Croatia who did amazing for such a small nation.
Their semi-final heroes Mandzukic and Perisic were unlukcy today despite trying hard to do something.

France was clearly superior.Croatia was poor especially on the wings and if it wasn't for Modric they wouldn't have kept some possesion.

Great spectacle for a final. Finals tend to be cagey affairs but thankfully this was a spectacle.

Croatia controlled the midfield especially in the first half as Kante and Pogba were getting overrun by Croatia's 3.
But ultimately France just looked fresher and took advantage the second half. The first 2 goals for France were lucky. The own goal came from a clear dive and the penalty was iffy too.

Modric is probably the least deserving Golden Ball winner ever. He was poor and consistently outshone by other Croatia players throughout the knockout. And yet because he has the recognition coming off the back of the 3 peat, his poor performances keep getting glossed over.
Just from the Croatian team in midfield, Rakitic outshone him throughout the knockouts. Put away the two decisive penalties like a boos and bossed the midfield today while Modric went missing. NVM Perisic, Subasic and Mandzukic who were all much better in the knockouts.

My player of the tournament would have to be Pogba. I thought he was outstanding in every single knockout game. He struggled in midfield today but that was more on the coach who set up 2 vs 3. Still came out storming in the second half. Key in defense throughout the tournament and the main instigator of France's attacks with his incisive passes.

I could be wrong, but if memory serves me right, Perisic and Manduzkic were pretty meh until semis

Semis and finals count for a lot and they were just as good if not better in the R16 and the QF
