WHO WILL GO THROUGH?
Re: WC 2018 | Round of 16 | France vs Argentina
Last WC Messi was GOATing the groups then was quite in the knockouts. This WC it will be the opposite and he'll win the whole thing with Argentina's boogey team out of the tournament already.
France with all their overrated DABster players can book their flights home already.

Sampaoli repeated the same eleven in training today for the first time in his NT tenure

Re: WC 2018 | Round of 16 | France vs Argentina
It would have been best not to predict given how even and unpredictable international football has become. Still its hard to resist the temptation to do so.
From an emotional point of view I would have liked to say Argentina riding on a high but from a logical point of view I cannot see France not winning this unless they choose not to exploit Argentina's very apparent weaknesses.
2-1 to France.

Did I give my Argentina 3-1 France prediction in this thread yet? If not here it is.

BC and I are the most unconfident two in regards to our NTs... and they're both alleged powerhouses. They've both offered exactly zero reason for optimism.
My hope is that we don't suck, whatever happens. How's that for expectations

Re: WC 2018 | Round of 16 | France vs Argentina
Cristian Pavon with Lionel Messi as false 9 or Gonzalo Higuain starting as the 9 for Argentina, all from the Argentina latest training.
Have the best collection of strikers in the world
bench them all
Seems like a mistake, the Thickness, through pure mass and gravity creates pockets of space for Leo and I've been told he keeps snacks in his pockets which is a handy trait

I guess if we go the false 9 way at least we would have some balance and defense on the RW? Altho I was impressed with Messi's tracking back vs Nigeria so I'm not really sure it's needed
Anyways Samp gonna Samp, maybe he's just trying to keep Deschamps guessing

Re: WC 2018 | Round of 16 | France vs Argentina
Considering France's left side could be a combination of Hernandez and Matuidi, doesn't seem too necessary, not to the detriment of dropping a potential goal threat in Higuain/Aguero anyways
I'm expecting the same 11 as Nigeria

I support the Italians of Argentina, but I think France is stronger.

Looks like we will play false 9 with no CFs
Dybala, agüero and pipa on the bench.
If this backfires how will Samp ever explain this

False 9 in 2018 There's a reason why even Barca gave up on it.

He wont need to explain anything. If Argentina loses everyone is getting blamed besides Messi regardless what the lineup is.

interesting matchup because Deschamps started Matuidi on the left to defend on Messi, but Messi is gonna be playing down the middle in between varane and Umtiti.
Problem is that Di Maria is shit and i can't trust pavon

Re: WC 2018 | Round of 16 | France vs Argentina
It might actually work if France actually stay with Pogba and Kante as the only ones in CM but it's just hilarious because false 9 hasn't really worked since before Neymar joined Barca.

As bad of a coach as Samp is, I have to say I'm starting to admire his balls. The last time he experimented he was ripped apart by Croatia and now he's doing the same thing in an elimination game against France

For the life of me though I don't know why Perez is still playing. No matter how bad Samp thinks Lo Celso is he can't be worse than Perez

Re: WC 2018 | Round of 16 | France vs Argentina
Perez was only called up when Lanzini was injured. How did a player that was not intially in the 23 called up become an indisputable starter?
Guess we will have to ask coachessi
