Yesterday was such a great day in term of matches.

The piece of magic is because he was put on goal and he had a monstrous control to put himself on goal. but are we gonna pretend, he did not have the most attempt on goals by anyone this world cup? or that he missed a PK? or missed a chance against lloris when he was clear on goal yesterday? these little things add up at the end and do not look good for messi.

Also, are you really going to sit there are argue that Messi has not made a career at creating goals and scoring out of nothing? by his own standards, he was poor. If your rationale behind that is to bring up the circus argentina have been in this world cup, fine, you may have a point, but i still expected them to do better.

when i talked about dysfunctional teams going far in country tourney, i had the specific example of Domenech in 2006 in mind with Zidane sitting down the middle and rekting about every team on his way. We did not even have 10% of that level with Messi in this world cup

Yes he has but 95% of Messi's goals come when he receives the ball near the box so it only takes a 10 yard burst to be dangerous, at this WC it would take like 40 yards.

I did not expect him to score all goaols for his team, i expected him to be better than what we have seen. And from what i recall, even Messi picking up the ball 40 yards from goal is still as deadly a playmaker we have seen.
