It's not because of Spain but because of Russia. I suppose RG underestimated that game (I mean I don't blame him) but now we deserve chat imo.

Having your hands up while jumping is putting them in an unnatural position. If his hand was the only thing keeping the ball from getting into the net, it doesn't matter if it wasn't intentional.

Intention decides if its a red or not.

You can't point to non-intention if you jump in front of an opponent in your box with both arms high in the air and then block a shot with them. It makes no sense. That's like claiming keepers save shots from close range unintentionally when they raise their arms and are shot at them.

Intention decides if its a red or not.

Handball has to be a deliberate act for it to be a foul to begin with. So yes, it does matter if there was intention.

Spain tried to cruise through the game after the goal. It worked until Pique's moment of madness. Russia are defending with 11 players and Spain are passing it between 3/4 players. Hopefully the game opens up in the 2nd half now

"Unnatural position" is not a criteria for handball. From the rule book: "the position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is an
infringement".

I don't think this is an egregiously bad decision or anything, but it's not a cut-and-dry dead on pen for me.

Hierro is not a coach he doesnt know what he is doing, and Spain only worked well in the first game. Spain style requires constant adjustment and instructions and no one is there to provide them.

Not to mention their pressing has gone out of whack.
