Spain are back
Took them some years but they have figured it out. Back to the same dominant side as they were before the German domination.

We have more quality than them everywhere besides GK and wingbacks IMO. Football's coming home.

Re: Spain are back
This happened the last two tournaments and they were shite both times.
I'll believe it when I see it.

Re: Spain are back
They would dominate if they had 1 elite striker but they can't rely on Isco scoring a hattrick in a WC semi-final for instance. Rest of the team is stacked as ever.

Spain are always lacking in the striker's role.

Re: Spain are back
He probably meant since Villa declined. He was huge for them, since he left no one has been able to step up.

Re: Spain are back
Impossible to draw conclusion from this.
You have to keep in mind this is vs the worst Argentina team in history, coached by the biggest clown in world football, who are no match for Nigeria in current form.
You need proof? ISCO scored a hattrick.

Why not? They are stacked in every position, have the form and history to go along it.

Re: Spain are back
It's a friendly... Friendlies are an indication of absolutely nothing. Defenses don't tackle, players shy away from contact, most games have 5-6 subs, there's no consequence for losing, etc.

Re: Spain are back
Losing by goal or two in a friendly means little. Losing by 4 or more goals means a lot.

Re: Spain are back
Messi, Aguero, Di Maria, Pastore, Icardi, etc. were all missing.
The front line was Lo Celso, Banega, Meza and Higuain... I mean come on.
6-1 is bad. But this was the B team on the attack for sure.... and it was a friendly.
Germany doesn't give a crap about friendlies either btw. Didn't realize Mario Gomez was still playing lol.

Re: Spain are back
Siding with Breva there. Losing 2-0, 2-1 or even 3-0 is "alright" but 6-1, even in a friendly, is pretty bad. And it was not their attack that were at fault for 6 goals, it was a really sub par midfield and a hilarious back line.

This....
While I agree that Spain has yet to prove in a competitive match, Argentina has nothing to prove. We already know how they reached the WC, and will not change overnight. With Messi, they probably will cross the group stage but with the current midfield, they cant go far.

Re: Spain are back
Spain do have a striker, Costa isn't all that bad. He can be a real pain in the ass for the defenders and if he gets a chance, he takes it.
I hold Spain as favourites tbh, alongside Germany. I'll sure be watching all Spain's games since they have Iniesta, Isco, Thiago and Asensio in the squad.... Beautiful midfield. Solid defence, Alba in form, De Gea in goal. With a good coach like Lopetegui I can see them do really good and certainly way better than last time around lol

Re: Spain are back
It was the C team but Samp has shown no inclination to take the best players. Icardi, Dybala and Pastore are all not going as of today. Might change, might not. Frustrating.

Sampaoli beats Argentina twice in finals and then sabotages them from the inside. GOAT

Re: Spain are back
@BC. At first, my reaction was "oh my god, Argentina got destroyed". Then I looked at the lineup and I was like "did all the players miss the plane?"
