He's for sure one of the best strikers we've ever had and probably the most gifted number 9 of his generation. He's had a few rough patches over the years but except for a limited number of very special talents who didn't ?

I would rule out the possibility of him being S simply because the latter is most likely still mourning the loss of Juventus at the hands of Firenze's United. Such a loss should be heartbreaking enough to temporarily erase every single iota of trolling he must have in him.

Benzema's contributions are so meticulous and discrete that usually it's near-impossible to see them with the naked eye. You won't see him score goals or defend or press or even play well, but his contributions are there.

You could literally take him out and play with 10 men and you wouldn't notice any difference overall. But his contributions are there.

Show some respect for god's sake to a player who convinced a tiny minority of fans with a combined IQ of 80 that he's a quality player and that his qualities are not related to scoring, pressing or defending.

You should really show some respect for a player who's been directly involved in over 300 goals over the last 9 years and made some decisive contributions to our legendary achievements in the past seasons. But you're an idiot, who's been writing essays about how bad we play, how bad we are coached and run as a club during a period we won 4 CL titles and a league titles, so you don't.

Benzema has been horrible for 3 years now.  He was also horrible in his first season with Madrid.  He also had a meh season in the middle in Mou's final year (everyone was poor bar Ronaldo).  

So when you look at his career in its entirety, it's been a complete mixed bag.

The numbers you see are a result of longevity.... 201 goals in 9+ years.  BUT, 20 goals or so per season in the current era and a team like Madrid is bang average for me.  Nothing special.

He's been mostly shit with NT where he famously went 1000+ mins without a goal.  Only shining light there was his pool play during WC 2014... and then he sucked in the elimination round games.

My verdict?  Overall a decent to pretty good player.  Nothing more.  Did the absolute least possible with the talent he had.  Big disappointment to me.

Now that you've mentioned it sports, don't you think it's bizarre that France has been developing amazing midfielders, wingers and defenders but somehow it hasn't been able to replace Henry with an equally talented striker? Do you think there's a reason to that decline in that particular position?

I know Henry was amazing and should be very difficult to replace, but surely France can develop a striker more lethal than the likes of Giroud and Benzema...combined. Right?

Henry was very average for France... nothing special.  IMO, Trezeguet was far more impactful.

In any case, Mbappe is the CF very soon.  He's going to make that move for club and country in the next 12-24 months imo.  Then you have Griezmann, Martial, Dembele, Fekir, etc that are all scorers although not CFs.

Platini, Tigana and Giresse carried the attack in the 80s.  Then it went to Ginola and Cantona followed by Zidane and Djorkaeff.  When Henry was featured, we won nothing.. and now it's again a role player at CF to get the most recent WC.

France's success is predicated on defense, midfield and offensive creativity...  not a killer scorer really.  We're known for our number 10s in terms of attack.

don't you get it Benz is a crutch for armchair managers to pretend they know something about football, now 200 goals in 9 season is average when it obvious most of his rm career he doesn't take penalties, Fk or is a main scoring option, when our midfielders aren't creating anything for him it his fault, but what do you expect from a fan base that calls average guys like isco the best player in the team by a mile for doing nothing but tricks all game long, but have the nerve to call out benzema every game.

Mixed bag, that's an apt description to be honest.

I doubt many people would argue with his performances in his 2nd-7th seasons, even then, there were times when it was up and down. The problem has been his last 2 seasons and this season he has been garbage. There is no defense to 5 goals in the league last season in 32 appearances. None.

Where does he rank, well Idk, but his longevity coinciding with our most dominant period of our history flatters his goal tally. I'd say his rank among RM forwards is probably around 7-8 behind Ronaldo, Di Stefano, Puskas, Raul, Santillana, and Sanchez. All of those forwards are head and shoulders above Benzema, most scored more goals in less games, and most played in relatively worse RM sides in terms of chance creation. Then you have names like Butragueño, Morientes, RVN, Pirri, Valdano, Gento, Brazilian Ronaldo, who hover around places 7-15ish some of which are arguably better than Benz.

RM probably has the most difficult top forwards list to break into, so it is not a diss on Benzema, the club is just full of historical forwards with great records of goals and overall play.

I wish we still had Brazilian Ronaldo. I think his performance level and talent would have been absolutely brutal in modern football. Nowadays, you have the likes of Aubameyang scoring 30+ goals in the Premier League, Ciro Immobile scoring 40+ goals in Serie A, Sergio Aguero scoring 30+ goals despite suffering from constant injuries. Even 32 year old, Cristhian Stuani is banging in 20+ goals a season in La Liga, and is currently ranked second behind Suarez with 8 goals. These are really good times to be an offensive-minded player.

Sanchez has more goals in almost half the games, how can he be omitted? I won't get into the other ones because it is somewhat subjective, but Sanchez was objectively the better CF.
