Not seen Rush, have you?
He's incredible in that.

Ehh. I don't see what's so terrible about it, not the biggest Liam Neeson fan at this stage of his career, but I'll give it a chance.

You’ll probably like it if you’re a big fan
Mainly it's just overly quirky, not really funny at all (Well, Goldblum's dog is funny, and Tilda's. But they've hardly got any lines). The human character is absolutely nothing. None of the dogs except one seems like a character at all.
It's mainly characters saying the same weird stuff over and over again.
Also the plot is absolute meh.
Only positive thing about it is that it's look great. And Bryan Cranston's dog is a good character.
–––
Moonrise Kingdom is still his best film by far. The characters seem real, there's actual differences in characters and some real development.
I just feel like his movies are just the same movie in different, but same style of clothes
Nah I can see what you mean. I agree as much as I like Wes and find his movies enjoyable, it's getting a bit stale.
Love Fantastic Mr. Fox, Moonrise Kingdom and Grand Budapest Hotel though

This is getting really great reviews. Officially a 2017 movie, but I am sure it is getting its theatrical run this year as I've never heard of it before, but ever being the Ethan Hawke fan that I am, I am happy.

It's officially 2018 I'd say. Firsts public screening is the marker for things like that. Great to see Shrader delivering again. Def going to see it once it becomes available here.

Hereditary (2018)
Fantastic film. I can't stand horror films since most are trash but this was genuinely fantastic. Didn't use gore, didn't use jump scare and didn't use props. It used psychological terror, suspense, character interaction and a sense of dread and misery that made the film disturbing enough to make you walk out. Probably the first time I have heard majority of cinema go 'what the *bleep*' loudly at one certain scene. You absolutely don't see it coming. Most of the film was deeply immersive. But the best thing about the film was it's cinematography. I have never heard of Ari Aster before but a 31 year old making a film like this is insane. It might have the best cinematography i have seen since Arrival. It was quite similar to villenueve's style in some ways too.
The story was great. In a way i am glad it ended in a simple way but the ride was very bumpy. Kept you guessing. And the way it started is completely different to how it ended.
Highly recommend this. This had 'the wailing' feel to it in many ways. Possible he was inspired by it.
In horror films ranking this might be in my top 5 of all time.
8.6/10
