They Live (1989)
John Carpenter really is a very creative director lol. This was a fun film. I've noticed that his films don't have a lot of dialogues in them.
Can't lie, the acting was a bit shit. But the premises was great. Good watch.
7.3/10

Re: The Movie House - Part 10
RIP Tarantino smh
Reminds me I need to check if there were any good Korean movies last year. New World was fantastic. Seems they kinda stopped producing GOAT tier Crime Thrillers, at least since that, since they dried up in Hollywood I was thankful Korean cinema were pumping out some quality. You watched A Dirty Carnival? probably my favorite Korean crime movie.

I Saw The Devil: 7.5/10.
My favourite South Korean movie alongside New World (7.2/10 and 9/10 soundtrack).

Molly's Game is a solid 4/5
Jessica Chastain was the MVP. Lots of really strong female performances in 2017.

Wasn't aware there was controversy around it. I liked it quite a bit though.

Yeah sounds about right. Was never a critical success. I just liked the cast and mashup of elements from Sphere and Alien.
Good popcorn space horror.

Why do they still call them films mission impossible. It’s clear to see by now that none of the missions were impossible. Should start calling them tom cruise gets shit done.

"The Captive" with Ryan Reynolds and Rosario Dawson.
It's really fascinating to watch a movie where you can see that the makers had an interesting idea but then did not know where to go with it at all so it went downwards quickly and it all ended very weak. 5/10.

Re: The Movie House - Part 10
The Cloverfield paradox
Well, I actually didn't mind this. As Mclewis used the term few posts above, it was a "popcorn sci-fi/horror film". Full of cliches and all but it wasn't boring.
The events don't make much sense though. If all 3 films are in the same universe, none of them link up at all.
Acting was good though
7/10

Thought it was horrible.
Nonsense movie with so many wasted actors.
Only one good line in the entire thing.
Chris O'Dowd the GOAt did what he could to save it.

Well now you know why there was no publicity for this lol. A 3 min trailer would have showed 90% of the film.

Basically none of the three movies had any marketing. This one had zero though. Even if it was good I'd expect something like this from J.J. Abrams. He loves stunt marketing.

Re: The Movie House - Part 10
It feels like they wanted to get rid of it. If reviewers had seen this beforehand, this would have pushed away a lot of people who watched it without the reviews.
Saying that, it seems like cloverfield has more of a cult following who will watch it anyways despite being good or bad.
It felt like the film wasted so much time showing nothing which could be beneficial to future films. We already know there are Aliens on earth. At least show us something different. We found out the origin of those aliens. But how does earth having an energy crisis fit the other 2 films lol?
I suppose they'll claim they are all part of different dimensions or something.

Re: The Movie House - Part 10
You should check out some of David Lynch's stuff, RG. You'll either hate it or love it, but I think his movies and the TV Show, Twin Peaks are worth a watch purely based on how unique they are. Personally, I think Twin Peaks is fantastic. I can't think of a single show that's quite like it. Then again, you and Firenze seem like the types who need a really strong first impression to actually give something a chance, and in that sense, I'm not sure if it'll appeal to you .... Hey! Have you heard of the Fast and the Furious franchise?

Re: The Movie House - Part 10
I dislike the entire Cloverfield universe honestly.
First movie was garbage, but 10 Cloverfield Lane was good when ignoring that it's part of that universe. Not even gonna watch Paradox or the other one coming out.
One of the few movie universes that I outright despise.

Re: The Movie House - Part 10
Regarding Lynch, I do want to watch both Blue velvet and Mullholand drive. Matter of time when they become available. Not really into TV shows these days so will leave twin peaks for some other phase of life.
I kinda agree with you on the cloverfield universe Mclewis. I think all the movies are mediocre to poor. But i still watch them as they are an easy watch (other than the 1st film) and somewhat gripping. I just wish they advance it to something more meaningful.
