Re: 2017/18 Winter Transfer Rumors
Munich paper tz made an online poll among Bayern fans who they would prefer as Lewandowski backup for a winter buy. (Yes, the fact we are short a striker is by now widely accepted, about 2 years since it's become apparent).
The winner of the poll, with 30 somewhat %, was Olivier Giroud.
Bayern fans are smart tbh. That's a really, really good idea.

I didn't lol. I actually hadn't seen the poll although I do check the site now and then.Unique wrote:did you vote
I must admit I was thinking about candidates for a backup striker (who is good enough to come in at top level if must and not look completely out of place, but who is also content to be backup behind Lewa and sit on the bench for a lot, who will not make fuzz because of this, who is not CL cup tied, etc) and Giroud hadn't even crossed my mind though he ticks many of the boxes

Uhh, ok then. Also, "Juan for the road" should be a ban-able offense on Twitter.

Re: 2017/18 Winter Transfer Rumors
@doc, I saw that story this morning and I don’t accept it at all. (And I know Mata personally, generally a fan. He is a really nice guy).
Why - where would he fit in? He’s an AM that usually plays on wing, he’s not a forward, not known for scoring. We already have Isco, Asensio in that role and both are better than him. Plus Zidane is insistent on at least 2 forwards and is even talking about playing BBC for upcoming key matches. That means both Isco and Asensio may not start, so where do think Mata would fit?
I get that if the rumours that if ManU will get Ozil, Mata has to go, but this story, by British Media is just BS. Perhaps there are other spanish teams out there, like maybe his old club, Valencia. Plus Mata has never shown any love (or interest) in Madrid after they took Drenthe over him.

At least you HAVE a backup CF. We've only had Lewandowski for more than 2 seasons now. People from our club claim Müller 'can' play backup CF when it's clear he really can't. Also of course, Lewandowskit is 'never injured'.
In our treble season, we had Mandzukic, with Gomez AND Pizarro as backup CFs.
2 of last 3 seasons we went out of the CL exactly when Lewandowski all of a sudden missing or heavily unfit (played vs Barca with his jaw broken 5 days before....)

Re: 2017/18 Winter Transfer Rumors
likewise last season we had Benzema, morata AND Mariano.
have we cracked the code, go 3 deep at CF and you rack up trophies?
how many contenders have 3 CFs? can only think of Man Yoo: Lukaku, Rashford, Martial ===> Trophies

Re: 2017/18 Winter Transfer Rumors
We are signing Lucas Lima in January, brilliant
Another fat Brazillian who stomped in Favelas in Brazil
On top of that, he's an AM
Had enough of these garbo midfielders, first Hakan, now this.
I want WILLIAM CARVALHO

Re: 2017/18 Winter Transfer Rumors
William Carvalho was linked to Juve this summer, but fine, you can have him. We'll content ourselves with SERGEJ MILINKOVIC-SAVIC the best boy in the game.
What Milan needs are 1 winger... and 1 CM that's not shit, i think W. Carvalho is a decent fit.

Re: 2017/18 Winter Transfer Rumors
Depends on how much you can spend, 200 millions was a lot already
I'd go for Torreira (Samp), W. Carvalho, Baselli
Keep Bonaventura, Locatelli, Biglia
For the wings Gomez was an obvious choice

Re: 2017/18 Winter Transfer Rumors
Torreira is already heading to Atleti, Baselli i don't rate at all and lol @ Gomez
I'd take a punt at Seri, he's a beast from what i've seen of other people using him on UT
Also Kovacic if Madrid are selling

Re: 2017/18 Winter Transfer Rumors
Torreira has a 25m release clause so anyone can get on that. Its just a matter of convincing him.
Inter seems like the obvious candidate for him in Italy since they are desperate for more midfielders and his agent already said that Spalletti's game would be ideal for him. Samp said they wont sell in January, so everything is open for June.
Also, Gomez is an extremely rich man's Suso. It really was the obvious choice. Would be doing wonders at Milan right now. If he can do this well with De Roon, Freuler, Petagna and Ilicic around him, he can do it anywhere. I guess F&M would rather just do with Borini and Calhanoglu.
If Kovacic wasn't only 23 I would say he will continue to disappoint forever. Everytime he looks good and a fresh pair of eyes will buy into his hype and every time he fizzles out into inconsistency. I wanted him at Juve too when he first showed up in Inter and yet every season he had the same roller coaster as Arsenal does where you go from hype to disappointment in a never ending cycle. Where is that Arsenal season chart? we could just rename it "Kovacic's hype".

Kovacic will come out of his chrysalsis once he comes to Milan
Gomez i do not want to be anywhere near, don't even mention him to me, he is good for Atalanta, lets keep it at that
Torreira i am 100% sure we won't get

Re: 2017/18 Winter Transfer Rumors
Moggi saying that Barella is already ours, as in we will get him for sure.
After missing out on Pellegrini and Gagliardini (at least for now) it would be good to jump on Barella.

Re: 2017/18 Winter Transfer Rumors
I think we need a winning culture before new arrivals honestly
if not all the new arrivals will flop just like this year...even bonucci has struggled
Would take a chance on that lad from brazil were being linked with but again thats not gonna address those issues
I also dont see us spending without 4th place or the sales of Gigio, Silva, and other valued prospects
Montella pls
If were dreaming, than a midfield overhaul is spot on, i would keep one of biglia/kessie in there as a rotation, and of course bona, but then we need an actual difference maker (looking at you Sergej)
But back to reality now: Badelj and Matri Loan

Re: 2017/18 Winter Transfer Rumors
Sacking a coach (Montella), appointing the youth team coach as a caretaker who is also a former player (Gattuso) and signing Matri for the 3rd time would be beautiful tbh.
Then we see F&M remove their masks, scooby doo style, and it was always Berlusconi and Galliani under it.

Also, Madrid wouldn't be selling Kovacic. Zidane actually rates him highly and is probably Modric's likely replacement. Milan could probably acquire Ceballos as Zidane has no idea who he is at the moment...
