He barely plays. He gets to play 15 minutes at most these days. So it's difficult to judge him. He definitely has great skills on the ball but 4-4-2 is not the correct formation for him. He is a winger, not a wide midfielder and he lacks defensive ability.

I feel he would be great in 4-3-3 on the left side, I don't know why he plays on the right where he can only cross but not cut inside on the run. Still never a € 150M player. He can develop into prime Alexis Sanchez at best IMO, with better pace.

Young football nowadays need to develop very quickly and mature, which he doesnt done much still, the penalty he gave away was just another big example, defended like a guy who has never defended in his life before.

He looked good when he came back from injury in flashes, and steadily improved, but the last few games has been disappointing. He really needs to step up next season which I think most fans will give him that to really judge him.

He's coming off a 6 month hamstring tear looooool.  It's actually worse than a ACL in terms of recovery.  You can play in 5-8 months (he came back very early); but "medically cleared to play" and finding full range and function are two entirely different things.  It takes 12+ months to get back to 100%, if ever.

Imagine relying on speed and change of direction; yet no being at full speed and can't change direction like you used to.  That's what Dembele is going to face for a while.

And how's he supposed to progress while injured?  If he can get back to what he was at the beginning of the season come the beginning of next season... that will be a major achievement given the seriousness of the injury.  Progress will come after that.

I'm afraid Barca's management don't have enough patience and also at this level you gotta make instant impact to cement yourself just like Neymar did. He was amazing basically from the get-go

Agree that Valverde is ruining him at the moment, but Neymar being amazing from the get-go? He used to dribble himself into nomansland and finish like a 90 year old, all the while losing possession in dangerous areas. He did score/earn some clutch goals, but he was not a good fit at the beginning. Before the injury Dembele looked as good as Neymar in his first half-season, the match against Juve comes to mind.

I'm not. But I haven't seen anything from him that gives me hope that he is going to become our go-to guy. He can become a world class winger but I don't see much more than prime Di Maria/Sanchez level. Which is actually great but not Ballon d'Or great (even after Ronaldo and Messi are gone).

You never know, he might actually surpass Messi, theoretically speaking. Practically, he is nowhere near "Barca" level. I put "Barca" level on quotes, as right now, he is Barca level (Messi and Ter Stegen excluded).
