He really has to beat this Kimbo Slice level boxer three times to get rid of him

This is pure money fight for Wilder. Won't be surprised if Fury goes in unmotivated.

The best ever looked surprisingly good, and not only for his age. Practically carried Roy through the match, didn't seem to want to hit head with power.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
Yeah, I don't know why they announced as a draw anyway as it would be the worst draw of all-time. Possibly to set up more of these celebrity matches, so that the no one wouldn't get embarrassed. Gotta feel for those who bet on Tyson. I think it would warrant a lawsuit tbh. Roy hugged all match, Tyson teed up Roy's head multiple times, but went for the body instead. Somewhat surreal thing with Snoop commentating etc. I want to see Tyson in real fight now tbh.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
Very disappointing by Floyd. I mean power to Paul for using his pull for such an opportunity but this is a huge blow for boxing to see a man who hasn't even won a boxing match let alone faced a half decent "boxer", to face an all time great.
Floyd by the way, who should be giving Canelo a rematch but he wont since he knows he'll destroy him. No doubt.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
Saunders quit by his team on the stool.
He had a good match overall and bested Canelo at least 3 rounds. That uppercut where Canelo caught him when BJS went super low was the deciding factor.
BJS just doesnt have the power in his hands to stop him despite a good gameplay and as Canelo predicted he stopped him between 7-10 Round.
Canelo is the best by far but sadly his legacy will be marred by judges always scoring in his favour, him cherrypicking and marinading fighters (Golovkin) but at this point he is unbeatable. Already the best Mexican of all time. Caleb Plant is next and wont stand a chance either. Also helps when you have the best trainer in the world in Eddy Reynoso. Even a prime Floyd would lose to him.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
With you until the end, prime Floyd would decision him just as old Floyd did.
You can outbox Canelo, as Billy Joe did in spots, as Khan and Lara did in spots, but in the end you have to be able to survive his power which most of these guys absolutely cannot.
Saunders jabs and glove lands were cool, but it was mostly Canelo setting him up and not putting his foot on the gas in those moments.
I think Plant gives him a tougher fight though, he's a better boxer and the bigger man.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
Dani, Canelo is KNOWN as the boxer who has all the Vegas or US judges for him. The Golovkin decisions were prime example. Floyd is an ATG and gets too much hate from casuals for his "boring fights" but the Canelo who faced him back then at 22 is a whole different beast now. Aside from his slow feet and mid-fight stamina he is perfect.
I didn't see Canelo outboxed against BJS just one round at best but Canelo like Lomachenko starts slow to figure out the opponent and by the last round of the fight even if it continued BJS likely would have been knocked out as Canelo figured his game by then. BJS was good in the fight and is but a total wasted career and fought nobodies.
Plant has more whip in his punch but is a little one dimensional so hard to see how he will match up to Canelo especially given he too hasn't faced elites yet.
I can't see anyone beating him anytime soon especially given he doesnt rely on any facet of his game too much.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
Canelo is a good boxer, no doubt about that. But I think you can win rounds against him (if not on the scorecards, but in reality) as Lara, Khan and Billy Joe did for a little. But I think the Khan and Billy Joe fight, it was all by design, Canelo cant step on the gas for 12 rounds and will give rounds away setting up shots for later on. So, I dont think we disagree, I just think Canelo allows himself time to set things up without concern for getting outworked in a round knowing in the end he will land the far better, harder shots.
But against Floyd, it would never happen. He wont set up Floyd for anything. Floyd is just too smart and reads your intentions.
I understand Canelo was young at 22, but Floyd was further away from his prime than Canelo won at 36. Younger Floyd would embarrass Canelo with his foot work and constantly keep him guessing.
The only way I ever saw Floyd losing was like in those couple fights he struggled. Where the opponent wasnt trying to have a boxing match with him, but a fight, hold him on the ropes and pound away on the arms, gloves, top of the head, anything and never let him out. Once it gets to the middle of the ring, I dont think any fighter beats him. Canelo doesnt have the gas tank to fight that kind of fight, he will lose a 12 round boxing decision (phony judges aside) I believe.
But yeah, fantasy match up and we'll never know.
As for Plant, I have a good feeling about him. I have liked him since I first saw him. But I do agree Canelo has been and is the best in the game and cant see him losing.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
Easy paycheck for both of these guys. Floyd said he barely even trained for this. So man got 50mil or more? for 30 minutes of performing. Its so obviously a scam.
Even FLoyd himself said it's like robbing a bank but legal.

Maywheater Paul scheme got 600k pvp's, and it was so poor match it will probably affect other celebrity boxing matches coming. For the comparison Tyson Roy Jones got 1.6m pvp's.

If the figures are right and what Floyd tells what he got is right, then the thing was a financial disaster for the promoters.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
Trust that bum Wilder to ruin what would have been the Fury v AJ match just this month.
Hoping for Fury to smash him again so he can go onto face AJ who should be beat Usyk, will get to face Fury, who in all likeness will smoke AJ.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
As a Southerner, I can confirm Hearn is a typical Southern wanker
Anyways, I've been good with underdog predictions lately in both MMA and Boxing (had Ugas easily beating Manny, had Giga easily beating Barbosa, had Guerrero beating Ortiz and further back had Prochazka beating Reyes) and while im not ready to say Usky beats AJ....its a serious consideration at the moment.
Usky may surprise people with a pressuring strategy, using his far better mobility and feinting to fatigue AJ. Only issue is, AJ has a good straight right which is the southpaw killer.
