Napoli always do this.
0 chance they will win scudetto
0 chance they will win the EL either now

They might have rested them, but Sarri then subbed them all on at the 60th minute so he couldn't react anymore afterwards lmao

Come on! He is still Olympiakos' best player!!!!
The little guy who plays here in Toronto might be smaller, drawing a blank for his name?

Giovinco, same size as Insigne

They've been doing that for the whole of EL and getting results doing it, but its possible. The top 4 race is very important this season with the additional CL spot that no one deserves- they should just let Juventus try twice since were very good at trying

I'm enamoured by Napoli's beautiful football
They concede enough goals just so everyone is entertained regardless of how much they score
Doesn't matter if Napoli lost today. What matters is they played beautiful football. Sarri

Re: Official Europa League>>>>>>>>>CL thread 2017/18
Inzaghi has been putting out the banter lineups since the first day in EL. They've taken it much less seriously than Milan or Atalanta.
Sarri too before the game with the staple "we care about the league", "league is first objective" and "EL is crazy because in 70 hours we play SPAL" and rotates 7 players. Its SPAL at the San Paolo and they don't even have coppa italia in the midweek.
Atalanta is the one admirable team going all out in EL. Their fans were amazing at the stadium. Filled the away section and had half the bottom of the north curva (where they in theory shouldn't be allowed in). Crazy loud and fun. Clearly living the dream that their team can play in europe and perform their game at Dortmund. Were cheering and clapping really hard their (disappointed looking) players after the 3-2 at the end of the game.

Did you see the game? Napoli played nothing close to beautiful football.
They played shit on a stick stuff, Leipzig had like 40 shots to 5 by Napoli. Napoli didn't create anything, didn't even have much possession.
Embarrassing stuff to serve your fans at home to be honest

Napoli snubbed it
But Lazio played with starters and I watched 2nd half. They have missed so many easy chances. Just unlucky
Then Steaua players to waste time on time , franlky embarassing attitude

Didn't some of you "defend" Napoli's decision to not care about the UCL? Am I casting false news out here? I don't think I am. Remember a very different tune that was being song for Napoli in the UCL.

UCL>EL
I also didn't defend it, I just explained it because people kept calling fake news in spite of ADL and Sarri saying and doing what they do. I explained why they do it and what is their reasoning, don't support it. Their reasoning is still the same, and its still a shame that they are not going for it in europe. Not just them, I wish everyone took EL seriously.

That was just an overdrawn meme to be fair. I can't remember anyone defending it, just explaining the mentality and the reason why I say Sarri/Napoli is provinciale. I don't feel vindicated on nights like these but imagine resting the majority of your team because you play SPAL- newly promoted and currently 18th place at home on Sunday. It's an unreal thought

Re: Official Europa League>>>>>>>>>CL thread 2017/18
The narrative on Napoli to snubb Champions League is absolutely false.
Napoli wanted to pass it, they simply weren't so good to do it. The aggregate 6 -3 with City represents the real gap between two teams. They are better than Shaktar but that is the Champions League.. even Atletico Madrid were knocked out from Roma
On EL it is true instead, Napoli cared of EL just under Benitez
But it is nothing strange, it has to do with Premier League teams too
Who rememberes Spurs ( I meant... Us ) knocked out from Gent just last year or Liverpool from some Turkish team etc
Snubbing Europa League if you have the obsession of league and your roster is low ( it is the case f Napoli) is a comon thing.
On the other hand, snubbing Champions League is just an invention, no clubs in the world would do it lol

Re: Official Europa League>>>>>>>>>CL thread 2017/18
What's absolutely false is claiming things in the face of all evidence saying the contrary. One quick look at the lineups tells you what they did. I don't understand what's there too deny when a team rests starters in a competition to play them in the league at the weekend. Even their president pretty much said so before the Inter game. You are burying your head in the sand.
ADL: “City? I think that some of our players should sit out this game, with Inter only around the corner and being just as important,". So Sarri rests two midfield starters for City and plays them for Inter. Same against Shaktar with Mertens, Jorginho and Allan sitting out. You would think Sarri and ADL should only say so many times that they are prioritizing the league before people believe its not a joke.

Honestly, it doesn't even matter. They got bounced out of the CL whether they cared or did not care about it and now they'll promptly get dumped out of the EL too. If they win Serie A it will be quite symbolic of the league at its current state and how it would be without our lords and saviours, Juventus

Re: Official Europa League>>>>>>>>>CL thread 2017/18
The best thing they can hope for is that we progress in the CL. We play full teams in the CL and coppa in an injury crisis while they rotate 7 for both competitions so they can rest for Verona and SPAL.

Re: Official Europa League>>>>>>>>>CL thread 2017/18
Juve priority is Champions League, it means " snubbing the Scudetto " ? No. Same for Napoli about CL / Scudetto , just "opposed main targets"
Napoli played with ALL starters in Uefa Champions League and they fought till the end to go on ( it was enough to watch their matches ), that' s enough . These are facts, the rest are suppositions.
De Laurentiis is the most stingy Italian president, Napoli make mercato just if self-financed, so imagine he 'd have gve up on to CL revenues
Even unreal to think it

I think they are absolutely snubbing the EL though. It's a drain on them at this point when they are still top of the table.

Napoli intentionally dropped Jorginho and Allan in 4/6 of the CL group games (Allan started the final match though).
I don't think we can find another team in this season's Champions League that rotated to the detriment of their team when qualification was not assured. I know its just two players but think of the meaning and the importance that Allan and Jorginho have on the way Napoli play. I think its a quite clearly the wrong mentality not to play your best 11 in the Champions League and I've seen numerous Napoli fans defend and commend this attitude in other forums.
With that being said, I watched many of Napoli's CL games, I would never say they blew it off. They played extremely well with whom they played with, but dropping two of your best players in the majority of your matches in anticipation of Serie A matches to come, as echoed by your owner/manager, is a clear indication of their intent and I will never hear a proper justification to the contrary
