Considering we've spent £5 net since 2015 in transfers realistically with our decrepit, injury prone midfield we should have the financial means to get him regardless.

Next summer assuming at least one of Costa/Berna forces their way on to the starting XI we need to bring in SMS, get our boys home from Atalanta and possible Kean as a heavily rotated back up player.

But every time we draw up affordable, sensible plans we go and sell a key player or 2 and it's left in ruins. But if we can actually do that, then we're back on track imo.

Yeah that is a worry but if we really want him, and we'd be stupid not to, we should be able to get him. If Marotta wants to continue to focus on the balance sheets then that's a different story though.

100% wouldn't surprise me but potentially we'll try harder to keep him as he's become the poster boy for our own marketing and unlike the last one, he has no strong affiliation with another elite club and isn't spoken about as being ex-whoever's player by everybody at every given opportunity.
