What a *bleep* movie. Edgar Wright is a genius. Those shots and the way he synced the scenes with the music was a work of art. All the characters were so good too.
- Spoiler:
Kevin Spacey sacrificing himself for Baby felt out of character for me. Still love how complex all the characters were. Jamie Foxx was my favorite but Jon Hamm was so damn good too. We need Hamm to be a big movie star, this guy is one of the best actors in the world, period.
- Spoiler:
- The Kevin Spacey sacrifice really is what took the movie down a notch for me to be honest, I was really really high on it (still am), but when I saw that I kind of recoiled a bit. It was out of character not only for the specific character of Kevin Spacey, but out of character for any crime lord and to me seemed like lazy writing. Sacrificing yourself for love of two people you hardly care about when previously in the film you threaten Baby with essentially taking and beating his girlfriend up? It just doesn't make any sense. I still enjoyed the ending after that because it was action packed and his face off with Hamm was GOAT, but that moment was a very clear weakness in an otherwise strong film.
I actually would have believed it more if Spacey helped out Baby just for Baby. It wouldn't have been great (still would have felt out of character), but it seems clear to me that there was at least *some* feeling Spacey had for Baby, regardless of the awful things he had him do (and was prepared to do to Baby)

Law Abiding Citizen - 3.5/5 imo
Solid + unique story. Had about 70 suspense, not enough to be top tier. Maybe because the story played out back to front and it was more psychological. Also lacked the gritty/tense feeling I like. Overall good thriller though.
Watching Judgement Night (1993) next, got a feeling this is gonna be goat after reading some reviews.

- I always interpreted Kevin Spacey wanting to keep Baby on the job as he had begun to see him as wort of his son, considering he's gay and had no family of his own.

South Africa is slow with these summer blockbusters. Dunkirk on the 28 July, Baby Driver on the 4th of August. No idea when we get WFTPOTA.

I am proud to have caught the Jon Bernthal joke. If you don't see me again, it means I'm dead. Yup.

- Spoiler:
- I don't really think it was implied. Just felt he seemed that way. Could just be me. Either way I think he actually really loved Baby and didn't find it out of character. It fit with the tonal shift of the movie in the last third.
Jon Hamm was amazing, turned into a crazy slasher villain. Was so funny
And Jaime Foxx playing his Horrible Bosses character with balls

Re: The Movie House - Part 10
The movie made good money. I feel thats due to star power. I love Simon Pegg and Nick Frost but yeah, Kevin Spacey and Jamie Foxx are much bigger names. Also Ansel probably has a decent teen following from The Fault In Our Stars. Want him to be Harry Osborne in the MCU or Nightwing in DCEU.

Would fit great as Harry Osborne. Could see him for Nightwing also, think I'd prefer Dylan O'brien or Aaron Taylor Johnson. Think they've been in the rumoured shortlist also.

There are thoughts in the Comic Book Movie thread
In short though, I think everyone really liked it. I loved it but still prefer MoS. Think RG and ElG still prefer BvS and M99 liked WW the best of DCEU.

I posted in the comic thread that I felt the movie was massively overrated when watching the first half. It keeps getting better and finishes very strongly.

Just watched War for the planet of the apes.
Stunned.
Film of the year by a country mile. I don't think even Dunkirk is going to beat this for me.
Masterpiece. Matt Reeves is a genius. He created one of the most emotionally gripping scene i've ever seen without anyone using a single dialogue.
Caesar is arguably the greatest fictional character. Should become the first CGI character to win an oscar.
Please go watch it in the cinema. Entire cinema was just speechless at the end. Specially at that ending.
9.4/10

- Was teary eyed ffs. That ending
Full circle though. That little girl was caesar and caesar was james franco's character

Ye, best scene in the movie by far.
Also speaking of crying scenes. Disney and Pixar animation has the craziest ones. Fox and The Hound ffs (I think it's called that in English, Danish it's "Mads and Mikkel"), Lion King, Bambi, Inside Out, and Toy Story 2 all have these scenes.

Inside Out has to be the most overrated movie of the last decade. Cannot understand why anyone liked that movie.
