They've been better. Some superhuman goalkeeping and like 5 lucky bounces in a row have been the story of the game really.

Teams like West Ham, Watford, Bournemouth and West Brom are mid-table. This league is garbage .
Haven't watched the game but it sounds like Spurs have failed to play with any sort of intensity. Maybe they used all their emotion against Arsenal last week.

Re: English Premier League '16-'17 Discussion - Part 14
Commentators kept saying that but it's not really true. I think there could have been more, yes, and if the players are tired that's valid. However, it was a case of not having enough space. How are you supposed to "play with intensity" when the opposition has 10 men in the box? The team with possession is always going to look like Barca, recycling it from side to side, probing for something.
Spurs had the better chances and were the better team, but luck went the way of West Ham really. League was already over anyway, so I'm not bothered

From the Spurs fans on my timeline, it sounds as if your front four were very static and uninvolved most of the game. West Ham packing the box of course makes it difficult to play quickly, but there might be a case of the attackers not working as hard as they usually do.
But as I said, didn't actually see the game. Just sounds as if West Ham worked much harder tonight.
Just opening this up a bit, but apparently Spurs have only won 7 games away from home this season (Chelsea have won 12). May be a bigger issue at play there.

The fact is Bilic got the tactics spot on. Spurs midfield was non existent. West Ham were the better team. Absolutely chuffed with that result!
What's better is that we can win the title before Spurs play their next game. Win on Monday and win at West Brom and that'll be it.

Spurs didn't bottle anything, really. They just hit their limit. They had won their last 9 games before this one.
The match at Chelsea last year was a bigger bottle job than this one.

Re: English Premier League '16-'17 Discussion - Part 14
Thats why I'm amazed by anyone saying Spurs are bottling anything. Spurs cut an insane lead to four and have won 9 on the trot before today. They're something like 11 points ahead of 3rd?
The issue is Chelsea have been too good. Spurs would be on track to win it all most other years.
This is ignoring the fact that West Ham were very lucky today and I believe there was handling in the build up to their fortuitous goal as well.
League was already over, insane from Spurs to keep it relevant this long and I'm proud of them.

WHAT?
They defended absolutely superbly and neutralized Kane and Alli. They also won the midfield battle with Wanyama and Dembele. Had quite a number of chances to go 2-0 up and could have done so if Lanzini and Ayew weren't so shit at converting. How have they been lucky? That was a well deserved win for West Ham. Awful comment there.

West Ham are gash, it's a bottle job because it should have been an easy win.
Hope City drop points tomorrow too.

Re: English Premier League '16-'17 Discussion - Part 14
West Ham were terrific defensively I agree. I mean they parked the bus like prime mourinho but that's not to take anything away from them. They won no midfield battle...they didn't have one.
Nothing wrong with what I said. A draw probably would have been fair. I just said they were lucky, which they were. A cross that was handled by West Ham, bounces off three different players to Lanzini in front of the net is the definition of luck. Besides that chance and one half chance early on they weren't even in Tottenham's half the whole game (not including last 10 mins when Tottenham stopped defending because they needed a win, not a draw).
They were good defensively and terrifically lucky offensively. There isn't anything wrong with that, it's just a description of the game as it was.

Honestly not surprised. Lanzini is great, he's going to be the next Eriksen. If he spent less time injured WH would have a shot at top 6

Now that they have lost ground (and momentum) to Chelsea (and title race) they are going to give bye to MU. Freaking Spurs.
