Farthur, whom came to replace Aleñá yet provided 0.01% of what the La Masia graduate produced. All he did was passing back. Literally game over as he came on the pitch, I think Barcelona produced one half chance after that.

Much like his compatriot Coutinho. You (should) pay good money for quick witted players. Unfortunately for Coutinho, he either doesn't see the passes (lack of awareness) or he is slow to see them (lack of vision). Half a second later and the passing option is closed especially against the tight defence of Valencia. And this was the problem for most parts of the game. Barcelona having the ball behind Valencia's defence, can't penetrate, lose the ball, Valencia counter attack.

Aleñá on the other hand, wow what a crack he is. Passing, technique, intelligence, awareness. I wish I had the time to make a video of him vs Coutinho, highlights from this match to exactly pin point what I mean. It was clear as day and night tbh. It was almost like Aleñá had an extra eye behind the back of his head whereas Coutinho was colourblind.

Oh and, Rakitić is still your best midfielder (despite, also being played out of position). I can't believe some of you want him out instead of Vidal

Alena looks a nothing player. Only reason we got dominated for most parts was because him and Vidal made up the midfield. Mostly wayward (5 meter behind Semedo for example) and easy sideway passes. Not much penetration except one sideway pass to Messi at the edge of the box. Meanwhile Rakitic played the pass of the game over the top to Messi who missed. The only problem with Rakitic is that he plays every single game for some reason which seems to have to do with his contract. Playing every game after a tiring World Cup, no idea what that nonsense is all about.

Agreed with Rakitić treatment, he should be rested big time.

More importantly with Todibo having joined now you have 6 CBs but no LB backup Making RBs playing at LB does not make sense at all. As soon as Alba came on it was like giving the team another pair of wings. Don't understand this fetish of Barcelona with CBs when there are other areas more in dire need of strengthening.

Messi's dribbling seems to have regressed a lot this season. Couple of times when he had the entire field in front of him only to be dispossessed at the first dribble attempt; by Grandpa Parejo once.
On the match, clearly a result driven by the exhaustions of the remontada. Our foolish Copa obsession costs us again. It is a useless trophy and it should be only for B team players. The entire team looked spent. The only player in our team who provides an ounce of movement is Suarez. And at 32, he was completely gassed after running like a man possessed against Sevilla. With him not providing movement, there was not a lot upfront. And watching Rakitic and Roberto run back on the counter is the most laughable sight in world football.
If we are not going to play the Cruyff way and also not press, then we need good athletes. That means out with the likes of Roberto, Pique, Rakitic, Busquets and in with the likes of Semedo, Vidal, Kante, pacy CB etc.
Cant have Messi up front, no press, Busquets, Rakitic, Roberto, Pique in the side, play a high line and expect to win the CL. It will be another QF exit.

Agreed @alex. We need to gather a more physical/athletic team, the likes of Busquets, Pique and Roberto need to slowly be sidelined.

A player a la Kante is very much needed in our midfield. Thomas Partey or Ndombele type.

Someone needs to make up for the kms that Messi is not running.

Vinicious is basically going to be Walcott. Lots of running with nothing to show other than random moments here and there.

Just cause I defended Roberto against Semedo doesn't mean I automatically hate Semedo. I actually said recently that he's improved his game.

Arthur had a good game today actually. For the first time he actually won a few balls and played some good forward passes. However when you look at his overall performance during the season he hasn't lived up to expectations.

Semedo had a blinder. He and malcolm did what we should have been doing all these years and that is exploit Marcelo.
Both of them had very good games. Semedo only started becoming ineffective once Malcolm moved left and he had no support. Even then, he owned Ramos towards the end. That performance showed that he has what it takes to be an elite RB. Hope that performance earns him the starting spot and keeps Roberto where he belongs (at home).

Arthur
Take a bow son. Another good performance in another Clasico. Owned Kroos and Modric. We have got ourselves a baller in the Brazilian. Modric is a disgusting dirty little player. As usual, he gets owned against us and resorts to dirty fouling and the ref didnt even give a yellow.

Good that the bench players like Malcolm got a chance. he deserves to start over the weekend after that performance. Give Suarez a rest. He is running on fumes.

If yesterday was a glimpse of the type of performances Malcom can produce when called up then having him as a bench player is pretty fking great. Not only that, not sure if people have read his interviews but he is EXTREMELY humble and 100% understanding he is not a starter. Doesn't complain about his role and understand he has to work really, really hard to get minutes so he has to constantly improve his performances.

All in all he started off looking like a dud but has shown he can adjust to the team and hopefully will continue to improve as his Barca career continues.

Coutinho is an important player. Replacing him was not a good idea. With him you feel in control, and unlike arthur he doesnt make side passes much, his brain is wired to cause danger. He holds the ball very well under pressure
and defenders surround him because he has a great shooting ability, and he does it quickly. This surrounding opens space for others.
I dont know about you but i feel safer and in control with him
